In my opinion , those are more reason that he would not be considered a top rb as opposed to a reason to look at per carry averages .
To each his own there.

Yet nobody else has had the same consistent volume or consistent yards per carry. You're tooo stupid

my point was - you are entitled to your opinion, however you haven't seemed to be willing to listen to anyone elses - so it is hard for people to take it seriously is all.

we have never been a run 1st offense, and lets be real honest - we havent exactly been sneaky about using Mark as a RB - 1st down, line him up - oh look they stacked the box. 2nd down rinse and repeat - oh no 3rd down lets screen pass.

that was a brief look at how the last 2 years have been - especially 2015.

last year we got better, and this year we have been really good.

I agree with you in that I am just basing my opinion on stats. The points you bring up are valid for mark Ingram and the saints but when comparing "top 5" at a position in the league you can't bring up numerous non statistical factors to back your guy (on a fan forum for his team) and not do the same for others.

Was this rb running behind backup o-lineman? Was that rb playing on a team with a third string wb so that box was stacked? Playing through a sprained ankle etc....I have no clue because I don't pay nearly as much attention to the other 31 teams.

In my opinion - the argument for Ingram being top 5 prior to this year does not hold water unless you have black and gold shades on .

He signed for 4/16 (3/12) if he hits FA. so i say 3/19 with 12 guaranteed is fair

So in your unbiased opinion, who is better?

Not starting this all over again...
Go read the thread, the debate is not about who is better than him in 2017.
I already gave my opinion on who was better 2015-2016
What are your RB rankings from those 2 years, either individually or combined?

Hope he continues to do great this year and makes first team all-pro.

Your 5:
bell, gurley, mccoy, freeman, d johnson.

Bell, McCoy, DJohnson, and Freeman I can agree with. Gurley's 2nd year was VERY lackluster while Ingram has been consistent. I mean put him and Melvin Gordon side by side and they had near identical numbers and I wouldn't put Gordon > Ingram either.

Gurley: 507 carries, 1991 yards, 3.93 YPC, 16 TDs, 2 FumL // 64 receptions, 515 yards
Gordon: 438 carries, 1638 yards, 3.74 YPC, 10 TDs, 6 FumL // 74 receptions, 611 yards, 2 TDs
vs Ingram: 371 carries, 1812 yards, 4.88 YPC, 12 TDs, 2 FumL // 96 receptions, 724 yards, 4 TDs, 1 FumL

My top 5 of the last 2 years:
Bell, DJohnson, Freeman, McCoy, Ingram

Its not about just total yardage and/or TDs. Would you rank Brees outside the top5 because his TDs aren't up there?? Being efficient matters and gotta remember some offenses are going to go run more than others so volume is not my go-to when considering who's the best.

I wouldn't rank Bell the best RB in the league this year because he's leading the league in rushing yards. He has almost 50 more carries than the #2 guy and only leads the league by 120 yards. His YPC is ranked 25th, lower then guys like Latavious Murray.

At this point Why would Ingram get all pro even over Kamara?

Ingram isn't going to get All Pro.

But if he did I would gladly watch him go to another team.

We could replace him with Carlos Hyde, Orleans Darkwa, Alfred Morris......Alfred Blue, Jeremy Hill

And not skip a beat.

You guys think we're running it 15% more this year b/c Ingram is that much better or b/c Worford/Peat/Unger are possibly the best interior OLINE in the league?

to dismiss what Ingram has done in favor of the oline playing solid is laughable at best.

the Oline has blocked very well this year, but Ingram has played well also - there were times where there wasn't much opportunity and Ingram still made the most of it and got yards noone thought he would.

We could replace him with a shoe doesn't mean we would be better for it.
CSP loves him. He runs well, blocks well and catches Brees well. He is a all around back that knows this team and how to play in CSP's system. He is a top 5 back in this league.
He should be a Saint as long as we can afford him.

No. Ingram and Kamara work in unison with each other so breaking them up would not be a good thing.
