What would we imagine his contract will look like?

Ebron signed a 2 year 13 mill deal last year.

He was obviously much younger but also wasn’t as proven as Cook.

Curious to see what it could look like given that he’s the clear cut top dog at the position.

IDGAF, sign his arse. Just wondering we will be left with.

Seems like this will all come down to money, there cannot be a better option for him out there. No viable player at the position and fricking Drew Brees slinging it? There's literally no reason (other than money) to look elsewhere.

I think it will work out well for us. It's either Jared Cook or relying on a rookie for Brees' best chance to win a championship.

Looks like we've made him a top tier target.

3yrs/28mil range

Jimmy graham got 3/30 last year, same age.

Jesse James just got 4/25

Cook will be in the middle of that imo

Drew Brees? slinging it? The guy can hardly hit a 5 yard out to Kamara at this point

Would be a really solid addition. Massive void at the position

Damn GB got hosed

Let’s hope this goes better than that.

Let’s split the difference there and go 3/25??

That’s a nice bump from the 2/10 deal he got with Oakland

I feel like that could give us a way to incentivize him with upfront money and a solid out if it doesn’t work out or we just move on after Brees retires

For the cap gurus on here, how would that leave us?

ETA: Just looked and Trey Burton was the top TE last year and he got 4/32, so 8 mill per year may be the number.

He was also much younger, but unproven as well.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out and what Cook is looking for.

Have to think the Saints have to be willing to go at least 7-8 mill per if they are serious.

Just had a career year. He's signed 1 & 2 year contracts the last 3 years. Unless he is ring chasing i think he will want 3-4 years around $8 per

Yeah I have to think he wants the last big payday to set him up for life after football.

Ring would be nice but he’s got a couple of options there with both NO and NE in the market.

Please don’t let this dude leave NO bound for Foxboro.

Brees will be in the room and simply let him know he is joining b/c he will make him a household name.

My sales pitch to him would be video of Jimmy Graham as a Saint and then video of Jimmy Graham not as a Saint

I hope we get him, BUT...

Am I the only one who doesn’t think this is some kind of slam dunk? I think it’d be a good signing but not like anything extra amazing or would move the needle in any super significant way

It would move the needle because it is arguably the biggest need. He is so much better than what else the Saints have.

He’s better than Arnold and Hill Gives us another legit reviving option.
