Typical 8-8 team. Overperform and win some where they were not even supposed to be competitive, then drop some in equally inexplicable fashion to bad teams.

Offense lost this game though. You just can't have that many drops right in your hands.

You won't like this post either but I've been following them since the first season and I am NEVER surprised when they find a way to lose a game.

I turned 15 the first year the Saints were in the NFL and have seen it all too.

All those losing seasons, head coaching changes, Bag-Heads in the stands razzing on the "Aints" at home games. Hail Mary's to end games on losing notes to Tom Dempsey kicking that 65 yd. field goal to set an NFL record...

LOTS of ups and downs over the years. Enough so that I'm pretty much numb to them by now.

I’m 65. I threw my remote through my black and white TV for that game.
.. 65 here also.. I remember watching the saints play the Rams in the 1st game of the Saints joining the NFL playing in Tulane Stadium..John Gilliam’s TD return on the opening kickoff.. this last minute losing streak started from the 1st season for the Saints..I can probably name just about every game the saints lost on the opposing teams last drive.. it’s alot… NOTHING surprises me anymore…

Only need about 40 yards for a field goal attempt of 52 yards. Not that crazy of a drive by Atlanta to win, it’s just the fact it was over after one play (64 yards).

63 yards, with half a foot. 28 years until someone tied it and 43 until it was broken.

Oh please, if you've really been a fan for that long then you can agree there's never been a better period of prosperity for this franchise than what we've enjoyed the past 15 years or so. Like it's not even close, we've been to 3 NFC CGs and won a SB since Payton was here. Even this year we still sit at 5-3, it's not like we're a joke franchise that has 3-13 seasons routinely. Yeah it's frustrating to lose games like this but every team has games like this every season. I still feel that we will end up 10-7 or so and make the playoffs. We aren't SB contenders imo but we're still a solid team capable of beating anyone.

I have been a season ticket holder since day one. You think this is bad? Believe me it can get a lot worse.

I’m 53 years old. I cried as a kid when Falcon QB Steve Bartkowski beat the Saints with Big Ben play. Nothing surprises me with the fricking Saints any more

Or when the snap went over Russell Erxlebenwhen head for a punt in overtime against the Falcons and he throws a pass which was intercepted for touchdown. Falcons win 40-34 in the Dome
