This is all for a compensatory pick bro.

Makes perfect sense.

Pats do this constantly. 1 year rental that could result in a 3rd round comp pick.

If we win the SB I have no doubt they’ll take a QB in the 1st and baptize him by fire

Taysom is 30 now. If he was a traditional QB, this wouldn’t be a big deal. Unfortunately he is not. He relies heavily on his athleticism to be productive and that typically declines rapidly in a football player’s 30s.

I personally think Taysom will remain most valuable in his current role. Also he will play longer in his current role bc he will take limited hits. I actually think the combo of Jameis and Taysom could be a long term solution.

Isn't Drew on the hook for another two years in tandem with Taysom?

I think it's 2 years but this is Drew's last year. He is 100% going in the booth next year.

I expect an honest and sincere competition but, c'mon, nobody is beating out a multi-year starter who just threw for 5000 yards for the #2 job on this team.

You honestly think Payton is going to throw in a guy with ZERO experience to a guy that has years of experience?

The only way Drew comes back is if the season is cancelled

That is a little bit ridiculous and comes of as very spoiled/entitled. Do you realize how hard it is to make it to the playoffs, advance, and have a chance to win the Superbowl? Drew has played well enough to legitimately make 4-5 Superbowl runs. Not all unsuccessful attempts should and do fall on his shoulders. He by far gave us the best chance to win. Somethings we could have done better and some things were out of our/his hands.

You realize how incredibly rare it is for an elite QB to lead their teams to multiple SB wins. Pretty much only TB and Montana fit your above statement (Bradshaw and Aikman were on some loaded teams).

I love how everyone keeps spitting the 5,000 and 30 something TDs but conveniently leave out the league leading interceptions. If order for this immature QB to limit his interceptions, his yardage and TDs are coming way down too. Then he will be a less than average QB.

He isn’t a long term answer and in my opinion, isn’t a good short term answer either.

I love how everyone keeps spitting out how he had 30 ints last year. He has never thrown more than 18 ints prior to last year and has thrown for over 4000 yards in two other seasons. The only seasons that he did not hit over that mark was bc he didn’t play the full season in the other 2 years. The Bucs offensive line has been pitiful his whole career and he only had a good running one year in his career (Doug Martin Rookie year). He was sacked 47 times last year which is insane. You don’t think that may have contributed to his picks? He has never had good coaching and has had 3 different coaching staffs through his 5 year career. Guy has talent and Payton is a great coach so let’s just see how it goes before we just start bashing the guy. He is better than some starters that are out there right now.

George Blanda, Brett Favre, Sid Luckman, Peyton Manning, Fran Tarkington, Joe Namath, Broadway Joe...all through for at least 28 interceptions at least one season in their career. Some of them and only 14 games. Guess what else they have in common?

Taysom Hill

6 of 13 for 46.2 Completion percentage 0 td. 1 int.

is that enough to say he's starter material right there?

look, I love the guy, but at this point imho, he's not a starting caliber NFL QB.

I'm not saying Winston is the future. We're going to have to see how/if he progresses, but if we need a qb for a few games or more, I think Winston may be the better option.
