If the Saints are bad enough to get a top 1-4 pick they better trade down and get multiple picks. There are to many holes to fill with just one pick.

Not only are there no QB's that look like franchise guys right now, drafting a QB this years wastes 2-3 years of his rookie contract, which is the biggest advantage of drafting a franchise QB.

I agree I much rather try to fill other holes and worry about our QB in a year or 2 if Rattler/Shough clearly aren't going to work.

I wouldn't hate trading back to middle of the first if we can get an extra second as well.

In no particular order we need a WR, CB, MLB, Edge, Guard, and RB/TE (pending how Juwan and Kendre develop the rest of the season).

Agreed, but as has been discussed in a previous thread; at this point in their respective final year in college, Burrow was not considered a top pick, Daniels may not have been a consistent 1st rounder, and I am sure there are countless others that were either #1 locks that fell fast, or mid round picks that shot up the board late.

Problem is… Saints don’t need an OT but a Guard…. a Mauling Right Guard !

2 counter points. Saints keep spending 1st on OT, might as well play the odds if you are kicking out mocks. And, it would not be the first time the Saints over drafted an OT and moved them to OG (Peat & Penning)

Again…. the 2 Clemson players (DT and DE) were the 2 highest DL rated at one time.

I also believe Penn State is suppose to have a highly rated DL.

Doesn't necessarily have to be 1 of these 3, but if they decide they have their QB or don't want one in the draft, I hope this is where they spend their attention. Need a game changer on the dline

Way too early mock draft

If no stud QB in this draft:

2 Peter WoodsDL | Clemson
33 Carnell Tate WR | Ohio State
70 Drew Shelton OT | Penn State
143 Zion Young EDGE | Missouri
186 Marlin Klein TE | Michigan

If a stud QB is in this draft:

2 Fernando Mendoza QB | Indiana
33 Caleb Banks DL | Florida
70 Malik Muhammad CB | Texas
143 Kaytron Allen RB | Penn State
186 Aamil Wagner OT | Notre Dame

GoatMilker……

I read this thread and I see people having an honest, in-depth, conversation about the Saints future regarding draft picks and team needs.

Then I see your postings in this thread just trying to get a rise out of someone (mainly me).
You are very transparent.

I didn’t see him do anything special against LSU. DT’s are like guards, you don’t draft them high. They also have a high bust rate.

Bain would be my pick right now. Checks alot of boxes and it’s a need position. Looks like he has a nonstop motor, which I also like.

Sellers vs Shough College

Completion % - 66.2% vs 63%
Pass TD% - 6.2% vs 6.2%
INT% - 2.1% vs 2.4%
Y/A - 9 vs 8.2
Pass YPG - 175.3 vs 186.2
QB Rating - 157.9 vs 147.7

Considering Sellers rushing prowess (823 yards*, 9 TDs) and the fact that he’s only 20, he’s positioning himself nicely come April. Guy like Anthony Richardson was 54% passer in college with a INT% of 3.8

Sellers throws some really good passes. Like great passes. He also throws some bad ones. He just needs to be more consistent. Whoever drafts him will need to be patient since he’s only 20 years old, and they will need to have some weapons and good offensive lineman.

I think Sellers can be a star for the right team. My only worry for him is his injury history at this point.

That being said, if we could get a top flight pass rusher or top flight WR with our first pick, I wouldn’t be upset. I just don’t know how many teams will want to trade up for a top 3 pick this year.

Like I said, he has athletic ability. But his consistency in the passing game needs to improve.

And comparing him to Shough is not a gotcha with me like you think it is lol. I wanted Dart in this draft lol. I didn’t mind the Shough pick at all, but if he can’t beat out Rattler….. I have SERIOUS doubts that he’s the guy either

I keep saying start Shough because you need to know what you have in him.

AR is a very lazy comparison for Sellers. They are not similar players whatsoever.

Man, we need a guard. Ruiz has got to go, and Penning gets paid to be hurt. We also need receiver.
