I may just repost this in every thread (until there are a few duds)

quote:

So, Winston has a good and efficient game against GB where everything seemed to go right, we need to see more to determine if he's the long-term answer.

Winston has a terrible game against Carolina where everything seemed to go wrong, we need to move on now as he's not the answer.

The problem with Taysom starting is they limit his strength, the threat to run. It may have been because we were shorthanded at QB last season, and they were being overly cautious; but if the plan with Hill at QB would be to force him into a pocket passer, he will fail miserably. If they open the playbook that allows him to run freely, still run RPOs, and play within the pocket; he may have a chance to do well (none of us know if he will, can only speculate as it has not been allowed). This is the issue you run into with Hill as the starting QB, what will the team allow him to do?

McCoy being out is a bigger deal than you are crediting. Let's get him back in and see if Winston still is running for his life or if the pocket holds up and the run game opens up again? I think that it will.

The trade offers for Taysom are mind blowing.

I don't want him to start at QB, but it is time for him to start at the hybrid FB/TE role. He needs to be on the field for like 80% of the offensive plays. Outside of Calloway, he is our best receiver.

one thing he will for sure set on fire is fumbles lost

I think he can go 10-5 the rest of the season with our defense

put down the crack pipe

I wanted Winston to do well, but he’s no Bridgewater, no Taysom, hell he’s not even as good as that dude from Colorado State we had in 2015.

based on 2 games?

We tried, but it’s just not working

we beat the frick out of a team week 1 that many had/have in the NFC championship. We haven't been home in a month. We were missing a pile of starters and half of our coaches. pump the breaks

We did go 3-1 with Taysom last year

his 3 wins were against a broncos team that had a practice squad WR at QB and the falcons twice

He lost to Philly, the only team he played with a pulse

You say this like Taysom didn't have over 300 yards and 2 TD with a pretty good 73% completion percentage. And his pick was right off of Kamara's hands, so can't really fault him for that.

Not Taysom's fault either that the defense allowed two 100 yard rushers after not allowing 1 for the previous 40 or so games. Or that the OL couldn't protect to save their lives, or that our DL got no pressure.

At least give it some context and don't be disingenuous.

Taysom sans protection: 300+ yards, 2 TD

Now do Jameis...

Taysom- great athlete. Garbage quarterback

Cut crablegs a little slack. Our offensive line and receivers sucked last game. He is undoubtedly the best actual quarterback on our roster.

I'm not sure John Elway could have done any better with the way our offensive line played on Sunday. Jameis was running for his life

But he's not a creator. He doesn't create offense and chain-moving plays. He's a statue who makes slow reads.

Taysom gives the Saints the best chance to win. Is he as advanced a passer as Jameis? No. But with our line, the best possible offense we can have involves the Saints playing "big boy" football, lining up, and running a ton of RPO and QB power with some TE and RB screens thrown in.

I’d pay for extra downvotes to give this take. Winston is our best chance to win any given week and will be until another quarterback altogether is on the team. Taysom is not an NFL quarterback. He Tim Tebow without the college hype.

correct. a perfect example of why Taysom is not a starting QB in the NFL and will never be for a team that wants to advance in the playoffs. Jameis may not be the long term answer either but he showed more in pre season and week 1 than Taysom has in his entire career. If Jameis looks bad in a week where he actually has some sort of OL protection maybe this convo can be had.

I dont understand who has it worse, the Saints board or the Rant. Next QB syndrome plagues this place like no other.
