I love that this front office is so aggressive, and I’m glad we don’t like to trade down.

I’m OK with swinging big and missing.

I also think draft picks are MAJORLY overvalued by many here.

Downvote away…

The smart man gets as many picks as they can because the draft is just a lottery. Even the sure things turn into busts.

If we’re including FA then you’re objectively wrong. Drew Brees was the most risky signing of the past 20 years.

Swing big, miss big we certainly have, but my point is I like the aggression.

Ever heard of a certain safety or two?
A certain RB?
I could go on with major swing big a fail FA's but you look it up.

AD had $1MM guaranteed on that contract

If you think that’s swinging big…

You’re right, we should run our team like the Bengals before they lucked into Joey B. Ultra conservative. No risk, no reward.

I agree... and quite frankly there arent enough roster spots to constantly draft 8 guys a year.

There also isnt usually enough cap space to sign 8.

Darren Sharper (FA signing) and Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram (traded up for both)?

We’ve hit and missed a lot. All teams have. At least we are trying.

Brees, Shockey, Greer, etc. (FA signing hits)
Browner, CJ Spiller, Fleener, etc. (FA signing misses)
Kamara, Adebo, McCoy, etc. (moved up to draft and hit)
Stephone Anthony, Martez Wilson, John Jenkins, etc. (moved up in draft and missed)

You can agree or disagree on trading up. But to make blanket statements is dumb.

Really, every year?

We swung and missed on Olave just last year?

I didn't make a blanket statement about our overall success rate in FA. To think I did is plain dumb.

He mentioned DB. Never said we had no good ones. I just reminded him of the bad ones.

PS
Drew Brees had zero...and I mean zero risk where we were as a franchise. Or is that plain dumb too?

Honestly, I trust our scouting department and I want to see moving forward how many of the head scratcher picks were on Ireland or on Payton.

My gut says he knew more about current players(FA) than he did about college kids. I tend to think he had more(maybe the most) influence over the FA picks.
