PS Drew Brees had zero...and I mean zero risk where we were as a franchise. Or is that plain dumb too?
WHAT?
I’m pretty sure he was coming off a significant injury to his throwing shoulder, one that made the Dolphins medical staff famously steer the team away from signing him, and we made him a Top 5 highest paid QB.
Not to mention we had the #2 pick in the draft and you had guys that year like Matt Leinart and Vince Young who were highly rated coming out of college.
Are you saying that because we were a historically bad franchise up to that point that the move wasn’t as risky? I’m not really following your point.

and I’m glad we don’t like to trade down.
Trading down isn't a bad thing. It can save money if there isn't someone you want in that spot.

Dr Andrews said he would be fine. We listened Saban did not
In 2006 he was 5th in salary and fell lower every year till he resigned. He was the best bargin in all of football for 5 years running.
I don't remember a lot of people complaining about the risk at all.
I do remember people jumping for joy.
Hey we differ in opinion on this not the end of the world

I am of the opinion that signing Brees for 2006 was the biggest swing we’ve taken in the past 20 years and it literally helped change our fortunes as a franchise, including winning a damn Super Bowl.
My bigger point as it pertains to the draft is that I happen to be a fan of taking big swings in an effort to win. I started by saying I was in the minority.
We’ll agree to disagree. Who Dat!
