If you hired a coach for stability and continuity, and he provides neither very well...

What is the point of keeping him?
I know I am beating a dead horse here, but this franchise cannot keep this going. Sunk cost fallacy and all, just cut bait.
Do what you did with the Pels. You dumped a bum in SVG that wasn't working and made an inspired hire in a young up and coming coach.
Do the same here, learn your lessons.

It truly is displaying a loser mentality to keep a 4-9 football coach, when Carolina and Indy have already fired their coaches for less. Do we have to sit back and wait for Lovie Smith and Kliff Kingsbury to get canned first?
There's way too many headlines on "Brady's Miracle Comeback" this morning for me to handle this well.

Willie is much more of a motivator than Xs and Os guy, but he does everything pretty well. The thing he does best is "buy in". The guys believe. They listen.
The Saints probably need more of an Xs and Os guy on Offense to run the whole show I think, that's just the way the league is trending.
But we need a young up and coming coach, a bold and inspired hire...not another bum retread.

The problem is even tho van gundy was bad, the pelicans were set up to win for the next guy.
The saints aren’t. And The worst part of the continuity push wasn’t even the hires; it was the draft pick trading that ultimately led to selecting Chris Olave, thinking that was the piece to a playoff team. Because you can change the coach all you want. You just can’t recoup picks like that though. Draft picks are foundation builders.

The question for many players and coaches to answer is, what is the prize?
DA needs to answer this question for himself and he will know if he is a HC or a stand in for the next HC. What is the prize for DA? Is the prize making it to the title of one of the few who reach HC in the NFL? Is that success in his mind no matter what his W/L record is as a HC. Is that good enough?
Or, is the prize having the opportunity to prove he is one of the best HC and dominate his time he hold the top position of HC? If this is it then DA needs to change his personality from being a guy under a HC to be THE guy leading his coaches and his players as though there is no one else responsible. This is a pure take the bull by the ball and take full controll as though your life and the teams life depends on it. This is the mindset you will find in every great coach today, especially if you are a young coach that has to earn everyones respect so they will follow you and your process.

Which is why, as I said in the other thread, even if they get good stuff for CSP...they might need to keep DA another year, hit absolute rock bottom, and then the job becomes more attractive because you have picks again, you are starting to be able to correct the cap situation, etc.

Still can't believe they traded into the late-middle of the first round a month before the draft. Just stupidity. Then predictably had to use more assets to trade up again to because the WRs were going fast.

And as good as Olave has been, it will still be looked at as a horrible decision seeing as you could have probably gotten one of these potential franchise QBs in this years draft.
