We can draft Skattebo and use him as the new Taysom
There likely won’t be a new Taysom. We kind of have an entirely different coaching staff now

Any coaching staff would love to have a taysom.
If he is healthy and on the roster I'm sure taysom will be used similar to how he was last season.
As for skattebo, he is actually a real running back. I don't know why people keep comparing him to what taysom is.

Regardless of your logic, fans will go apeshit over 2or 3 more crappy seasons in succession.

Taysom is a difference maker when he is in the game. Defenses have to scheme for him at all times. Like it or not, in today's NFL $10mill a year for a difference maker is cheap. Now I don't know what his health looks like post surgery, but if he is back to even last year's form he is a keeper.

Wasn’t it speculated that Taysoms contract was done in order to cut and sign him later for less money?
How much of that was this board making "predictions" so they can go back and re-post their prediction to say "called it", or writers throwing shite at the wall to get clicks. Remember when Latt's contract was reworked so we could trade him before the end of last season? Thank god we did that restructure and traded him after paying out the bonus so we can have $31M in dead money sitting on the books this year (would have been around $15M-20M in dead money if they traded him before the season)

Taysom
Great player for the Saints but the Saints are installing an new offensive system and;
1) Taysom is coming off of a major knee injury at 35yo.
2) Taysom has proven that he is truly a unique players that no one has been able to come close to duplicating.
3) Taysom will not be available to the team until at least mid to late 2025 but more likely not until 2026.

Carr
Car was DA's QB of choice. DA will get the QB Moore wants (within reason) IMO that happens in 2026.
Regardless of how they handle Carr this offseason he won't be on the roster in 2026 and is not part of the Saints future.

I want this to be true, but I can't believe it until we see what ML does with his contract. Right now Carr has a cap hit of
2025: $51.5M
2026: $61.5M ($28.7M in dead money if cut without adjusting 2025)
2027: $17.2M (voided year)
If ML changes Carr's 2025 salary to vet minimum and gives him a bonus for the rest, he will adjust Carr's cap figures as followed
2025: $28.7M
2026: $67.2M ($51.5M in dead money based on this 2025 adjustment), 2027: $34.3M (voided year)
That might be too big of a bite in 2025, unless they are able to purge a lot of other contracts in 2025

Taysom to Denver gonna happen huh
Sad but true. Sean Payton loves to raid the Saints trash bin and so far he's made out like a trash bandit.

I believe that if Moore was told that due to cap considerations Carr was going to have to be a part of this team for the next two season or more he would be much more committal to Carr in his press conference. (It could be argued that he may not have even taken the job)
I also believe that Moore and Loomis at least had basic conversations about Carr in the interview process because well , Carrs future is kinda a giant part of the Saints direction going forward.
I think it will be painful but they can move on from him this offseason if they feel like it's best for the team.
I also feel like Carr knows his time in NOLA is coming to an end. Only logical explanation for him being a ghost during SB week. IMO

Like I said, I want to believe it. Just am not seeing it until we know how ML gets cap compliant.
I could see a worst-case scenario (outside of an extension because of the growing void years) is he gets restructured this year. Moore gets his guy in the 2026 draft, and he sits behind Carr until he's ready to take over (week 1, bye week, 2027) and they take the hit in 2027.
Best case scenario is the above happens, but they cut Carr after the 2026 draft and designate him a post 6/01 cut (maybe even wait until 6/02). Cap hit would be the same as if they let him play out his contract through 2026, but now you don't have Sid from Toy Story sitting on the sideline and in the QB room.

Look we get that Taysom is a fan favorite and everyone wants to watch the white boy get the ball!! I know your ole lady has his jersey but he wasn’t worth the $40 million and he’s never been a consistent producer for our offense. One of the most overhyped saints I can think of.
Just to think we signed Taysom 4 year $40 million the same year the Bucs signed Baker to a 1-year $4 mill. AND we were paying Jameis $4 mill to backup.

Quite possibly but I also am pretty sure I saw it on the idiot box as well.

I agree that looking at what the Buc’s paid Baker will make you cry looking at some of the Saints contracts. Taysom is a 35 year old hurt gadget player that carries a 18 million cap hit this year. I love him as a Saint, but not for that price. Hell, not even for half that price. It’s time to move on.

It would be better for the team moving forward to just cut bait and develop some young guys.
What does this even mean?

Who are you gonna develop into the next Taysom?

Exactly but we don’t do that here. We’re too sentimental. You gotta take care of the our guys!!! We owe it too them right!!!

It means we currently have Taysom (a gadget)and Kamara that are worth a shite in the running game over the last few years.
Toss Taysom to the side as he will never play with this team during a meaningful season again. Draft young runners and start preparing for the future.
We need to run the ball and we currently have ONE dude who can do it and he’s on the wrong side of 30. With decent younger players we won’t need to resort to a damn 35 year old gadget player to run the ball. It’s not exactly rocket science. Or were you just trying to sound clever on the internet?

We need to dump every contract that makes any financial sense and start a true rebuild. Blow the shite up and hopefully hit on some draft picks. It’s gonna take several years to get out of the clusterfrick Loomis got us in.
