Reasons
1 - You don't trade away future 1st round draft picks unless you have your young franchise quarterback
2 - If Payton decides he wants to coach again I don't want Loomis doing him a favor and just asking for a 3rd round pick
3 - Promoting Allen and keep Carmichael looks like a disaterous decision

4 - You also don't trade draft picks when you're over the cap. You want more picks so you can get rookie contracts to get out of the hole.

The team has talent. You have to draft players that can actually play. Consolidating picks to draft players that will actually contribute is not a bad idea if you have talent on the roster.
