Which is why we should bring back Byrd (who still isn't signed, so should be cheap) or bring in Webb (ditto). To my knowledge, we don't have a FS with more than 1 year's experience. Breaux, Williams, and Swann have a combined ~25 regular season games worth of experience (Webb can play both CB and FS). Need a vet DB, and the remaining guys should come at a minimum contract.

i wouldn't mind it actually but only if he slipped to us (won't happen though).

need more help on the front seven still in my opinion. Have added some players at LB so I don't know if that would be the move the Saints will make. Would still like it if we did though.

if we got Butler and gave up a pick and then somehow added Adams then I'd be okay with that

^^^ pipe dream at its finest^^^

still would like to get a pass rusher with the #11 pick.

the entire thread is different if eliminating the move up for him part.

At #11 he could certainly be the highest ranked player on their board. Ya, he looks more SS but FS is not out of the question. Vacarro is not tied up long term and his production has been uneven.

Walter has a fresh scouting report on him today HERE

Multiple teams picking in the top 10 have confessed their love of Adams to WalterFootball.com, and it would be a surprise if he wasn't a top-10 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

I don't get the confidence in Bell tbh

He both looked lost and showed flashes of being a worthy starter. That's why I wouldn't invest a ton in a FS. I mean, if someone you love is available at 32, 42, or beyond, sure. We use 3 safeties often, so if Bell turns out well, it's not a big deal. But I sure as shite am not taking one at 11, much less trading up to get one in the 4-7 range.

I like Bell but I agree he isn't far enough along to be confident in him. It's why I was surprised they cut Byrd. Even though Byrd never lived up to the amount of money we paid him, he finally had a decent year last year. Not worth the money still, but a decent starter.

Byrd has not proven that he is an every down starter yet. He has looked good at times but has looked awfully bad at times also. I too am surprised that we let Byrd go. If nothing more, keep him one more year to help Bell.

They can still re-sign Byrd for WAY less than his previous base salary ($7.4m). Hope that it was an amicable divorce (it better be given the money we gave him).

Again, trading up for Adams wouldn't be about necessarily the position he plays, but finally getting someone who gives us an attitude and a leader on defense. That's worth A LOT.

He's the next Brian Dawkins

Like Barnett from Tennessee?

Or Vaccaro? Or Cam Jordan?

That's a shite reason to trade up, and it would cost us a good bit at a position that isn't near our biggest need.

He's a great player, but we shouldn't be trading up for anyone, especially not someone in the front 7.

You were a great poster before you turned into a condescending prick. Your draft profiles were always thought out and filled w your honest opinion. What happened man?

Vaccaro not Jordan have his kind of attitude and swagger.

And excuse me if I don't think Bell is something we should feel great about. He would make our corners better. He would make our linebackers better.

We get Butler. Trade up to 6-7 and get Adams and give up our 2nd. Take A DE at 32

How does his "swagger" differ from Vaccaro's swagger?

We're likely giving up our 2nd or 32 if we get Butler....

And I'm not even sure our 2nd + 11 would give us pick 6 or 7. Furthermore, what DE do you think would provide us with what we need at 32?

Like I said, I think he's a great player.

But a solid DE/pass rusher improves that a lot more than a safety does. You build through the front 7.

Getting to the QB forces turnovers and can turn an average secondary into a great one. You can't put the cart before the horse, especially when it means giving up even more assets.

If we were to move up on for any safety in this draft it would have to be Hooker. He is the ball hawk FS that this team is missing at the safety postion. Adams is a Vaccaro. He may be better, he may be worse, only time will tell but we have a box safety.
With that said, top priority is still getting to the QB.

I do not want to trade up for any reason whatsoever in round 1. We need our picks.

I love Adams - maybe my favorite player from last year's LSU team - but it's hard for me to justify going crazy to get him when safety seems like a lesser need compared to DE, CB, and maybe even LB (though we have made some moves there).
