The upside? Hooker turned TWENTY-FIVE years old today.

Upside...Hendon Hooker...

he could easily have a 10 year career, at minimum.

His age is not about how long he will play in the NFL

It’s about sorting through what he did in college playing as a man in that Heupel offense vs young competition. It’s about discerning his upside and potential going forward in the league

Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, Mahomes mentioned in this thread frickin dumb

I mean Burrow was only a year younger correct? Not saying he is Burrow but the age thing is overrated tbh.

meh, playing as a 24 year old against the college competition he played against isn't much of a factor. he's still in the margins. the op is talking about getting him in the second round, not top 10-15 in the first.

Drafting any QB is a crapshoot. As many expert scouts and brains take a look, it’s still a roll of the dice. Only thing is you have better odds in first round.

Why didn’t he go pro after this one ?

Yes Burrow played as a 23 year old.

I know you said "not saying he is Burrow"... then why are we only talking 2nd rd for Hooker? Out of this world numbers, prototypical size, ability to get outside the pocket. Burrow went 1.1. If Hooker is a dude, he's a dude. Why are we even talking round 2 and not top 10 of Rd 1?

Sorry but your age argument doesn’t hold up.

It absolutely holds up. You’ve provided nothing to refute anything I said, lil guy.

I know! I know!

(Because he’s not a good pro prospect.)

I'd honestly debate taking him with a late 1st (27-31 range).

Agree. Plus we’d have the 5th year option

I mean as others have said he is coming off a serious injury,if Burrow had torn his ACL he wouldn't have gone 1.1 either. He may not have slid to the 2nd round but he would have been close.

Hooked could be a good player, he could be a bust, but my argument is age is irrelevant.

Then who would you have play Quarterback? Another year with Andy? I l used to love Dalton’s play when he was in Cincinnati but he’s a top notch #2, not a guy to play all season. Daniel Jones was my choice for free agents but he’s skyrocketed his value now so he’s out.

My answer is the same as last off-season, let the QB market sort itself out. Then whoever’s left standing offer the position up for grabs to whoever believes in themselves the most to play for near the min with incentives that bump it up.

Drew is gone, way past time to get our cap situation under control now. No reason to keep pushing the chips to the middle of the table, especially with who we hired as HC.
This year should be about letting young players play and getting our cap back to normal. And getting rid of Allen.

Andy Dalton was a top ten qb this year based on QBR, I’d say that’s a little better than a #2. But I’d look at Baker, Minshew, White, Bridgewater, who was undefeated his last year starting for us for those who like to throw out Winston’s W/L record. Or even Dalton again. Bring in two and let them battle it out.

Tua (younger than Hooker) went 1.5 and no one was even sure how his dislocated hip would heal. You either have it or you don’t. No one would have waivered on Burrow

And your argument is wrong. Age is a factor for every athlete and their upside which is what I introduced age into the conversation for.
