You don't see what Taysom brings with his mobility, his toughness, his play extending ability outside of a pocket, and his pure running ability in schemed plays from the position? Are you blinded by his whiteness?

I didn't bring up race, but you did so maybe that plays a factor in your logic.

Taysom is a one read and run QB....The times he's actually played he stared at his target until he got open....

Those are not traits of a great QB.

TB led the Vikings to the playoffs.....Then when half this board shitted on him starting when Brees got hurt, he took the team 5-0.

The offense was balanced with TB at QB, Taysom has not had any real time under center besides a few gimmick plays and preseason where guys are just trying to make the roster are playing.

I've compared Hill to Kordell Stewart....They both were slash style players before taking over as QB. Stewart failed and I see no reason why Hill won't fail as well.

If Hill is the heir to Brees, then it was a very stupid personnel decision to sign TB.

not true.

meaningless words typed

Taysom is the only reason we had a prayer against the vikings this year.

he took the team 5-0.

he played very good in that gap. defense was phenomenal in a few of those games.

I've compared Hill to Steve Young and that guy won super bowls and had a 6 year stretch of phenomal play.

was it? you just outlined Teddy helped us go 5-0 during a drew less gap.

All of these QBs bring us back down to mediocrity. The only one I'm intrigued by is Dalton. I'd be curious to see what he would do outside of a garbage football operation. Feel the same way about Stafford although he isn't available.

I like Dalton but more as a backup to a cheap starting Taysom. Not sure if there's a starting oppo for Andy out there or not.

Go back and look at that pass to Harris against the Vikings.....He stared him down......

One Read QBs have proven not to be successful in the NFL.

Taysom is the main reason we had a prayer, but not because he was QB, it was because he was a gadget guy.

Steve Young....yeah that the nonsense Payton said....Difference is Bill Walsh sat Young behind Montana for years after awful play in Tampa.

It was a stupid Personnel Decision, because we could have took the money that we paid TB and picked up a quality #2WR....

I'm mean lack of production at WR2 is a glowing need, but Payton believe that we were better with TB backing up Brees, than pseudo Steve Young...

maybe the design of the gadgetesque play, that's the only read he is given. there are plays in preseason he goes through progressions, extends plays out pocket, and his running ability is only second to maybe 1 other.

Taysom has now been behind Drew for 3 full years.

WR2 isn't the reason we lost to vikings.

No shite he stared him down. Harris was wide open.

he really didn't even stare deonte down. he drops back just looking a bit to the right side of field and you can see a slight head direction change when he looked to put eyes on deonte then launch it.

Great pass but it would have been a TD if it was thrown a little better.

throw was fine. He waited a split hair too long to change his vision and launch ball to deonte, so it was more timing. deonte is fast and tayson hasn't seen a ton of reps. pass was completed, nothing to make a shite storm about at all. Drew has underthrown deeper balls all the time past several years.

If I had to pick from that group, I’d go:

Teddy Bridgewater - fan favorite and we know what he can do in the offense.

Andy Dalton - ehh, not going to win games for you, but won’t lose them either. He’s the dry toast of QBs. If QBs were a color, he’d be beige. If QBs were a fashion statement, he’d be a grey pantsuit. If QBs were a tv channel, he’d be public access.

Jameis Winston - super talented, but mistake prone. He may grow out of it at some point, but when. It’s a high risk/high reward scenario and right now, it’s mostly risky.

Jordan Love - if CSP likes him, I’d give him a shot. It basically means we are in a rebuild. But with the money we save, we should be able to add some major FA pieces.

Phillip Rivers - big arm, but he’s done. He played so poorly this year and threw a thousand interceptions.

Marcus Mariota - I’ve never been impressed with Mariota, not even at Oregon. Less so now. He’s nothing more than a back-up IMO.

I don't like Rivers; I think he's a whiny bitch. If you think he is not good though you are wrong. He played behind one of the worst OLs in the league, and just a year before he had a very good season. Out of the available QBs in FA this year, he is clearly the best of the bunch.

Jameis is easily the most interesting of the group of the guys who have played. When he’s hot he can absolutely shred a defense. The mistakes are just a killer. If even half of them could be eliminated he’d be a really good qb.

Teddy
Jameis
Dalton
Love
Rivers

Mariota

Jameis would be my #1 if we would run the ball more and take some heat off of him. But I don't think Payton wants to give up on throwing the ball the way he does.
