I strongly believe that if Brady returns, Brees will comeback. The only thing Brees has over Brady and Manning is records and if he retires and Brady doesn't, Brady will have the rings and the records and Brees will slowly be forgotten over time.

I believe Brees decision will come when Brady makes his!

IMO, I think Brees has already bought into the bridge year with Taysom.

If his only reason for coming back is to hold on to the record, I'd rather him just retire.

You think Brady wants to be remembered for his last pass being a pick six...?

You know he's coming back...

I don't believe they can retire the same year.

The NFL and the HOF will not want them both inducted into the HOF in the same HOF class.

Drew Brees would get slighted again so Brady can have the limelight.

Best to retire in different years.

What if Brees retires and the Saints get Brady for a one year rental?

Only thing that slightly bothers me a little bit, is that Brady is DEFINITELY not going on out on a pick 6. He will be back. But Brees could technically make the argument that, he brought the team back, tied the game at the end, and then the defense blew it and Brees never touched the ball in overtime, so the loss wasn't really all on him. So in that scenario, if Brees is going to hang it up, it's not because he's washed up or failed, it's because he wants to move on, time with family, etc.

Oh, who am I kidding, Brees will almost certainly be back, but I do think about that narrative factor a little bit. I have Brady as a lock to come back, and I do tend to think Brees will want to keep going, to keep chasing the records, same as Brady. And he does seem to be buying into the "transition year" concept with Taysom.

Then the league will hate Brady and won't let him be MVP, win another SB, or be a first ballet HoF...am I doing it right?

I think Brees' body language on the sideline while Teddy was starting told me Brees would be back for at least 1 more year.

he wont until brady retires first so he cements his name for all time holding all the records

this is like joe pa and bowden, both were long passed their best coaching but neither would retire until the other quit first so the last one in held the record book

I don't. I agree that Brees is playing for those records, and if he's sharing a lot of time with Taysom, he probably won't hold onto those records. I think Brees knows Taysom will have some growing pains, and that will make people appreciate Brees more and lead to more snaps for him.

I think the two events are unrelated.

Brees’ decision process has records waaay down the list other than possibly being 2-0 for Lombardis.

After listening to his (Brees’) Pro Bowl & Super Bowl interviews, I think he’s going to retire.

I think I hope he doesn’t, the vacillation is only that I’d hate to see him not play up to his previous standards and/or get really injured.

I’m getting my head wrapped around the concept of the Brees window may be closed.

I love Brees but Brady comes back and Brees misses the season for anything other than removal of right arm and left hand or death butTb12 plays, I will forever hate bBeta boy brees

I suspect professional athletes (and Drew Brees in particular) do not think along such lines. Fans think about records and legacy.

I have not gotten the impression that Brady is thinking about retiring, just that he's thinking about playing somewhere else.

Agreed. Drew is record conscious and so is Brady.
