He obviously looked bad in his first action although he really had no shot with all the missing pieces, but are we sure the coaches are ready to move on from him? Signing dalton is a pretty big sign that maybe they are, but who knows. Are we sure he isn't looked at as a future qb here?

I don't think signing Dalton is about Book at all. Taysom will not play QB any longer. Winston coming off a bad injury. He is the experienced QB all teams need if their primary isn't able to play especially if the understudy isn't quite ready. Books not ready and may never be. Dalton is immediate back up for now.

It’s about Book. I’m not one to give up on a guy after just one season. But I’ve given up on this guy.

Think Dalton was more of wanting to move on from Trevor than Ian. Maybe Ian will show some improvement by preseason….

Book was CSP’s parting middle finger to us.

book is another in long line of wasted draft picks by payton for project QB that can never make the team.

the saints really should see if they can trade bortles to steelers since the haskins tragedy, hopefully they arent sleeping on that opportunity

I thought the Saints gave Bortles his release and he is now a free agent.

I was shocked at how bad he looked and totally okay with moving on. Zero hope.

Yeah Dalton is a good pick up... old veteran to keep Winston on his toes and to mentor Book.

Book was put in a horrible situation and as the game progressed actually made some good throws. Not many QBs would have been successful in that spot much less their first start.

You know nothing. He was thrown into the game with no WRs, and no OLINE. You giving up on him tells us nothing about him. I'll wait for the NFL to decide.

I thought everyone knew Book was a project that was likely a practice squad guy for a few years then maybe a viable starter or long term backup.

Did anyone really expect him to come in year one with backups and win games?

What were you peoples expectations of Book?

It’s possible they could be looking to live on. It’s also possible that they felt it would be in the teams best interest to not go into camp with only 2 QBs on the roster. Dalton was the best option, so you give them both a legit shot to battle for #2. Book wins, cut Dalton and eat the guarantee. Dalton wins, plus Book on the PS and revisit again next year

Bortles release was granted. Book is in a pretty good spot now in the same room with Winston and Dalton.

I think this draft could speak to the teams thoughts on Book and how they compare him to the QB's in this draft class.

not sure if he would grade higher then all of them, but it would be very interesting to see how book would grade compared to the weak arse class of QB in this year draft

Ian book was a bad pick.

Could've used that pick to sure up the roster at receiver or running back.

The saints waste too many draft picks imo.
