I wouldn’t be so sure Watson is a Falcon at this point.

With what Underhill is saying and Rapoport he still has not made his decision. If he wanted to go to Atlanta nothing should be stopping him from atleast announcing it. I would also think it would be leaked if he truly did tell the Falcons “yes”.
The fact that Armstead is still out there as well makes it seem like the saints themselves still believe they are in this.
IMO, the Saints should come out firing tmr and pickup OBJ and Landry in free agency. Would certainly help the chances.

Can’t announce he’s going to falcons until the deal is done. You’d take away any leverage Atlanta has to move ryan

How? The minute you start shopping Ryan everyone knows you got Watson… they’re not giving Ryan up under any other circumstance

It's in Watson's best interests to make the transition as easy on his new franchise as possible. If he can help Atlanta move Ryan, get a pick, save some money, etc. that's in his best interest. That would easily explain why he hasn't made a final decision.
There's no reason for him to be in a hurry.

If Atlanta was trying to screw over the saints, I’d think they’d also string Carolina along. They are also a division rival and it would be just a beneficial.

Has to be the worst kept secret on earth at this point. If he was going to be a Saint he’d be one already. All this stalling is to give ATL time to get their house in order. For as I’m concerned this is over.

They should already know what teams are offering for Ryan. Just doing due dilligence they should have looked for potential offers the second Watson was tradeable just on the chance they land him. It should be a factor on what they would give up in the trade and/or spin for new players to entice him to come.

Exactly. The next few days will say ALOT. There will be reports that Watson has chosen Atlanta and that the Falcons are now open to trading Matt Ryan or Watson has Atlanta as its leader or heavy smoke around Ryan being moved. Any of those three will give us a good idea Watson is Falcon bound.
If Watson was a done deal, they wouldn’t have to push back Ryan’s bonus until Tuesday. They’d just announce Watson is theirs and they’d rush the trade of Ryan over the weekend. Or Ryan wouldn’t push back his bonus at all. He’d just waive it or push it indefinitely as long as Atlanta sent him to a place he wanted, which they have all the time in the world for. There’s really no reason to keep it a secret that they have Watson. Someone will take a flier on Ryan, even if with that terrible contract and ATL would ship him for pennies if it meant they got Watson

At first I got this logic. This was my mindset for hours. But think about it more logically. If the Falcons already had Watson, why would he or the Falcons wait to announce it? If a deal is in place, the Texans don’t have to submit it until…well the Falcons have traded Matt Ryan. And they’ll almost certainly know what they can get for him right now. If Watson was theirs, there wouldn’t need to be any waiting until Tuesday. Ryan has already pushed back his bonus. He can push it back however long he wants. Why would the Falcons want to wait and announce it? It’s not like they’re not going to be able to move Ryan. Some bum arse team will take him to see if there’s any dust left on the bottle.
There’s really no reason the Falcons would wait to announce it. It doesn’t change Ryan’s value. They’re not going to get more or less regardless. If anything, they’d want to announce it, even if they couldn’t process it until Ryan is traded, to get more free agents to come visit

See that’s the thing. Ryan’s value doesn’t change lol. They’re not going to get MORE just because Watson waits to announce he’s waiving his trade clause for them. You don’t think GMs would know why they’re trading Matt Ryan?
They can’t cut him. They have to trade him. And there would be smoke about that by now with how many people are on this trail. It’s not like the Adams deal where it flew under the radar. Every major sports journalist is going to run with any scrap of news.

It appears that he is giving Atl more time to sign offensive FAs. Looks like he would prefer Atl, but realizes that currently he has a better chance of success in NO. I still have huge reservations with this guy. He already fprced his way off one team, and there's no indication that he wouldn't do it again. Undeniably a great talent.

And what leverage is that? Teams know regardless if his decision is in the air that the Falcons HAVE to move on.
It’s not like they are shopping him out of the blue and teams don’t pay attention to what’s going on.
As of right now, teams know that Matt Ryan MUST be moved. If they announce it’s Atlanta that’s still the case
