It's just 1 game against a weak opponent. But with that said, those situations happen just about every week in the NFL and you still rarely see wins by 5+ TDs.

Also, Saints have a history or laying eggs against bad teams/QBs. Sure, they were still winning some of those, but they would have a WTF game. Then coming out the way they did should give you some excitement that they "may" play to their caliber against the shitty teams on their schedule. Throw in a few toss up games, and they will be playing for the division at the end of the season

we saw a team that is cohesive. excited. pretty disciplined for game 1. more creative. very efficient. very balanced in nearly all facets of the team.

A lot of good teams struggled with weak opponents yesterday

Not time to crown them but the team on field yesterday could easily win 10-11 games and the division

F that, we're crowning them. Have to get it in before reality crashes down.

But seriously, it is reason to be excited that the season may not be a complete dumpster fire.

Next week will be a good measuring stick.

I do want Parsons to catch the flu Saturday night.

The running game worked really well...which made things much easier for Carr. I'm sure a lot of that was because of the new scheme. IF the Saints can continue to have success running (which should be the strength of the OL...if the OL has a strength), that should bode well for Carr. That was the most encouraging thing.

We figured the defense would be pretty good. They were. But Young helped. I hate to say it because he seems like a good kid, but he is completely overwhelmed out there. The Saints may not get easier INTs all season.

The last time the Saints looked this good on opening day was in 2021. That looked like it was going to be a pretty good team...until Winston was lost for the season. Next week will be a measuring stick game. But if nothing else, the Saints go in with a lot of confidence

It’s a little thing and some would say it’s dumb but in the second quarter they showed the sideline and guys were dancing. Tons of energy on the sideline. Very different feel from the last 3 years.

Look at the Bengals yesterday. Super Bowl contenders, biggest point fav, lost to what most experts thought was one of if not worst teams in the league. It’s one game. But it’s better than the alternative….

On a side note, 80% of my survivor league t took the bengals and are out. Only 4 ppl picked the saints. This game was no gimme like ppl expected.

I'm comfortable crowning them. Small window before Kubiak's success has him bolting for HC gig. Let's win the SB in the Dome. Home field advantage all the way to the promised land.

it's the nfl and carolina will be the worst team in the league
schedule will be very difficult these next few games

@ Dallas
Philly
@ Atl rivalry game
@ Chiefs
Tampa at home

2-3 will be a must here before the schedule eases up a little

I'm not saying all that, but I loved what I saw from this team yesterday. Admittedly, this is probably the least excited I've been about Saints' football in 20 years. However, the product I saw yesterday gave me the jumpstart I needed.

The biggest thing that stood out to me (besides the Panthers being atrocious) was that this looks like a team that was having fun out there. They weren't just going through the motions. There was tons of energy in all phases of the game.

The Bengals are terrible on opening day. Taylor is now 1-5 in opening day games. New England at +8.5 was like stealing money yesterday.

The Saints, on the other hand, are the best opening day team during that stretch 6-0. Then wining (though not necessarily in a blowout) was an easy bet.

The team will be much improved just having a capable oc. The running scheme is much better for a less talented o line. They have some great coaches at o line coach and rgc.

The defense looked much better with chase young and granderson starting. Will Harris looks good at safety and adebo and lattimore are 1a/1b.

The panthers are bad though. Let's see how we perform vs a great dallas defense.
