I’m sure he’s shown flashes in practice that signal his potential. After all, he’s been a starter in the league, former #1 overall, blah blah blah.

I’m still not convinced. I don’t know what the front office’s thought process is or if they’re targeting any potential QBs via free agency, draft, trade, whatever. I just know that, unless there has been a continental shift in Winston’s decision making, he won’t last as a franchise QB. The challenge is finding the next one. Personally, I’d absolutely love to see Loomis pull off the impossible and bring Watson in from Houston. Watson + Peyton would strike absolute fear in the rest of the league.

Will be an upgrade in getting ball downfield
Will have to live with his boneheaded decisions at times but capable of throwing a lot of yards

I’m not a huge Jameis fan but you have to understand the little things with his situation. He never had a run game or defense. So he played from behind year in and year out. So the volume of throws is way too high. He was always near the top of the league in attempts. So you can blame a good portion of the picks on how much he has to throw and force the issue coming from behind. A team that rushes for 2000+ yards nearly every year as well as Sean Payton himself cuts Jameis attempts down heavily. Plus I’d assume Sean would put him in much better positions. Jameis literally had a new OC like every year. I’ve learned I have To cut him a break as a player. I hated Jameis the person though, but hopefully he’s matured some with time. But long story short, I think it’s a better situation than you think.

You will be disappointed. We have as much chance of that as we did for trading for Joe Burrow last year. Just move on.

As for Winston, getting him last year was a coup. You get an Uber talented QB who has had a year to sit and learn the system and get immersed in the culture and get familiar with the schemes. It’s as close as you can get to having Favre and drafting Rodgers as a team can really get.

The alternative is a flurry of trading up for a high pick who may be a Darnold or Trubisky, trading for a Darnold/Trubisky type or signing older iffy guys like Fitzgerald or P. Rivers. This is about as good as we could hope for. Embrace it!

Who you gonna get that's better next year. No available rookie will be better at the spot were picking. You cant pull off a trade without the assets and cap space. Maybe you sign a free agent but it would be a backup like Flacco or someone.

What free agents out their?

Nobody will better than Jameis honestly. Especially with the cap situation. Bodes better for us to roll with him and see where he’s at after a year. Sean will know what he has by then.

Get ready for a whole lotta 9—7, 8-8, 7-9 years. 2nd in the South. Miss wild card most years.

I would love to get Watson but doubt we can pull it off and would be expensive. However, I still like Jameis over some of the other guys that people have recommended like trubisky, darnold, or wentz. Don’t hate Darnold idea though. He is worth a shot if it doesn’t work out then you have a higher pick the next year. As someone said when he was with the bucs he had no run game and no defense. The offense was also centered around pushing the ball downfield so yeah he took a lot of chances

I highly doubt the saints get Watson. If they do then great. But I’m perfectly fine with Jameis getting a shot if it’s for a cheap price. The guy has a ton of arm talent. His issue was maturity and decision making. Hopefully some of that has improved after being with the saints. We have no idea what his actual potential is. It’s possible he was just in a situation where he wasn’t coached well. I don’t think there is really a better situation in the NFL for him to turn his career around. If it doesn’t work out then you trade a bunch to move up when you think you have found your QB in the draft.

Hey man 7 seeds available now. Playoffs might not be too hard to accomplish.

Don't you think his performance and decision making have evolved under Payton and Brees? I doubt the Saints would want to re-sign him if not.

Well he was notorious for throwing a pick in the first 5 minutes of a game in 2019

So much so that Cousin Sal was always betting the under on when Jameis throws his first pick

Hey I didn’t say all of the picks were on volume alone. Definitely some stupidity involved. No denying it haha

You haven’t really seen him play football in a year, and meanwhile much smarter people than you see him in practice every day. I’ll side with them.

One year removed from 5,000 yards and 30+ TDs is more than a flash. He cuts down that interception number (of which all QBs in the Arians system throws a ton on picks) and we have a legit QB who can stretch the field.

Hard for me to trust a guy who did the eat a W thing as a mature leader of a winning franchise. He has a lot of talent, but he needs to show that he has grown up a bit.

The one thing I noticed all year is how many defenders were within 10 yard of LOS, making it tough for AK to make enough moves to get free. If anything at all, safeties and DB’s will be backed off leaving more space for AK as they respect Winston’s ability to throw a deep ball. That will open this offense up more than people think.
