What would be this boards reaction if Drew pulled a Peyton Manning in the offseason and signed with the Broncos for $16-$18 million a yr to strictly chase rings.

Would you wish him well or would you be pissed that he gave such a bargain to the Broncos when he never gave the Saints the same courtesy

Obviously time heals all broken hearts and eventually Drew would retire a Saint and still be celebrated as the greatest Saint ever.

Just curious what this boards opinion would be if this scenario played out

I'm a brees fan for life, regardless of what he does at this point.

Brees is going to be 39 years old. Manning, while not exactly young, was 36. Still 3 years make sense a huge difference.

If Brees were to choose to not resign, it would be surreal not to see him in a Saints uniform but we would have a ton of money for free agency and my hope is we would be in line to draft one of the top QB prospects in the draft. The new era would begin and it would inject excitement into our fanbase on the potential new era.

With our O line play though, Brees may choose to retire at the end of the year instead.

Happy and sad, mostly sad but I think we need to throw some $$ at one of the big free agents that will be available in 2018

I want him to retire a Saint and break all the records

I also want him to win another ring and would understand if he left.

This is definitely his plan if we tank this year.

Some of your quotes in other threads:

Why even think of this hypothetical?

Happens every game. Looks good when you look at his stats at the end of the yr

The Drew Brees agenda is obvious. You really do not like him. You're a paid troll, useful idiot, Brees skull fricked your favorite team, or all of the above.

When you question someone's use of the hypothetical and then five minutes later you create your own hypothetical, it shows real stupidity.

I'd say good luck and I hope you win all but one.

But we'd need to rebuild. I don't think SP can do it.

Yeah I agree with most people, he can do what he thinks is best at this point.

With that said, I HOPE HE NEVER LEAVES US!!!!

Brees has earned his spot as my favorite all time and him leaving wouldn't change that. I'd wish him the best and hope he got his ring.

For us, the thought of Brees no longer being the quarterback terrifies me. I have little faith that we luck into the next franchise guy right away like Green Bay did or that the new guy would ever be even close to what Brees is. In short, I don't see the Saints being a winning franchise once he's gone

Bad timing but 2018 is a much better opportunity than 2019

I will be there when he speaks at HOF. He deserves better. Payton isn't HC to deliver it. Saints had 7 holes to fill. Don't think they fill any.

brees is a class act and has taken more undeserved shite that should have been on payton and loomis over the years.

I will always love and respect what he did for us and how much class he brought to this team.

the way I see this going is there are only 2 things brees is looking at, either he signs with a good team that has an o-line to keep him healthy so he can get them to the super bowl next year, or, he retires, and I don't see him looking at any other choices at this point in his life and career. plus his kids are getting at that age where you want to and need to be spending a lot more time with them.

my hope is that he goes into the broadcasting booth where he can greatly improve the intelligence level here
