Win or lose against the Panthers, this is going to be a long season.

Well yea, the season stretches out at least 1/3rd of a year.

Canales has really helped Young so I wouldn’t be penciling in a W.

The sunshine crowd is going to be surprised it’s a close low scoring ugly game in the 4th quarter. I expect the boos to rain early when the offense struggles and the porous line can’t move any Carolina defenders off the ball.

Not the worst thing in the world. Gives Grupe much needed confidence to make a big time kick.

100-0.

However it shakes, Saints are losing the next 7.

It'd go a long way to boost morale among the fans. Nothing short of a playoff run will stop people from hating Derek Carr and Dennis Allen, though.

31 - 10 Saints with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter(Saints always give up cheap TDs late in game when winning big).

A Dennis Allen-coached team is not going to be up big on anyone in the 4th quarter. No use getting your hopes up.

Or, not win the game with the Panthers getting a first by penalty on an untimed down to kick a FG.

the panthers are the worst team in the league

We don’t know that yet. Why do people always say stuff like this before a single game has been played?

Just getting to the playoffs won't be enough. They were gifted a really easy schedule in a week division. They would need to win a game, AND not get embarrassed in a loss. If they simply just make the playoffs, then get knocked out; the tune will change slightly, but it will still be "can't win when it matters". <--Which is an accurate statement

Most everyone agrees the Saints are supposed to be superior to Carolina.
First game.
Home game.
Divisional game.
Must win!

We have a really good defense
The D is average at best. The Panthers O probably sucks, so the D may be fine this game, but any decent to good O will thrash this team.

Considering the difficulty of the next several games, they better win the first one or else they will be in a deep, deep hole.
