I know one isn't a TE but who would you rather take and why?

Would be such a weapon, especially on 3rd downs from the slot.

Draft Kirk at 27 then trade into 2nd round for TE.

Cost would be very high as both TE will be drafted within first few picks of 2nd round.

For the Kirk guys, just know his stock has fallen amongst all mock drafts for a reason. "Mock drafts don't mean shite." Yes I am aware, but they're useful to say player X is probably going with +/- 10 picks of this slot considering a lot of these guys have connections to scouts and are aware of those things. He won't go before pick 50 if the recent mocks are accurate.

If we landed Suh I’d be all for taking Moore at 27 and then trading into the 2nd for Goedert or Gesicki.

I still think Suh goes elsewhere and we need to spend 27 on an interior DL or an OLB like Vander Esch

1. Kirk - fills our current void at the slot and helps with third down. Could change if we make signings

2. Goedert - like his catching and blocking but has speed questions. I really am not interested in a TE this early because we need help ASAP on 3rd down and rookie TEs rarely make fast impacts

3. Gesicki - same concerns with Goedert, except this guy can’t block. Freak athlete with physicality concerns.... this dude is a mirror image of Fleener. I’ll pass. Huge waste of a pick.

Gesicki is way more athletic than fleener but I wouldn't pick him in the 1st.
I would think about Dallas at 27 if the scouts and Payton absolutely love him in workouts.
I hope they trade back

And I don't live Kirk alot of manufactured plays at a&m.
I'm a do Moore fan way tougher and more of a receiver to me.
Sort of has a littl2 Steve Smith to me. I could see Kirk busting

If you had these options...WR DJ Moore, WR Chrsitian Kirk, TE Mike Gesicki, TE Dallas Goedert, pass rushing DE Harold Landry, pass rushing DE Arden Key, DE Sam Hubbard, ILB Rashaan Evans, & OLB Leighton Vander Esch. Which one would you pick?

Vander Esch or Evans all day.

We re signed Okafor who is still rather young. We can sign Ealy or Ayers as insurance until Okafor is 100%. I think Moore can be had in the 2nd round so we could trade up for him. Evans and Vander Esch won’t fall. And as much as I like Hubbard, I’d still say OLB trumps DE with DT being even more important than the other two.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think I prefer Mark Andrews over Goedert and Gesecki. He finds the soft spot in the zone better than either one. I'll admit the other two do have the athleticism and youtube videos to get you to say "wow." But I think Mark Andrews will be the best. So in regards to OP

Christian Kirk....but not by much

The one who has some speed and must be a A1 blocker or CSP will crush you.

SOURCES TELL US "He's a great big slot receiver. That's it. He won't block at all so what do you have other than a big slot who is an average athlete? I gave him a Day 3 grade." -- AFC regional scout

NFL COMPARISON Coby Fleener

BOTTOM LINE Andrews is a former wideout who plays with a receiver's mentality in a tight end's body. He is a pass-catcher with a deft feel for route adjustments and operating in space against zone coverage. Andrews is a big, reliable target who doesn't need a spacious catch window to haul it in. Despite his size, he lacks the desire and fundamentals as a blocker which will hurt his standing with some teams. He should be able to find early catches and production as a solid pass-catching tight end in the league.

Here's how one team source broke down Gesicki, "Gesicki is Coby Fleener. Tall, lean, probably will run fast; horrendous blocker - even [versus] defensive backs. He's got some high-point ability, but I have seen him drop his share of contact catches and contested catches too. I don't feel he's as a strong as he could be."

quote:

Team sources said that they were grading Goedert in the fourth round and have medical concerns with him. "He's not a great route-runner and wasn't a separation guy," said a NFC director of college scouting. "He is more possessional and doesn't win with suddenness or quickness. He had lots of drops, but you counter that with some spectacular catches. They threw him a million balls so some drops are going to happen. We just don't see him as a special mismatch weapon."

so should we stay away from both Gesicki and Goedert now too?

I'd still lean toward the TE who at least tries to block.

Go check out my reply in the other thread for a link to lots of gifs of Goedert (including him working at blocking):
