We offered one of our 4ths. I woulda been ok with a 4th. Giants gm is an idiot. He’s definitely leaving next year after drafting Carter and Reese the last two years and they will have to hope to get a comp pick.

I would say the value of the play would be worth a 2nd, but he needs to realize that the player is on his last year and people aren't paying that premium when they know the player will need a new contract.
And being that he has been inconsistent, due to injuries or whatever, it makes signing him to an extension before the season very difficult as I'm sure what the player expects vs what teams would want to give would be far apart.
That means you would be giving up a 2nd for a potential 1 year rental, and would have to play the comp pick game to even try to get a 3rd round pick back.
That's just clueless GMing to not understand no one will give up that much for a player that has questionable value AND needs to be paid.

They just thought him on the team was worth more than what the market would pay.
They could easily be right. If he has a big year they could franchise him and probably get a better pick.

Is this the same GM who let Saquon go to the Eagles and had his kid saying draft Jayden Daniels

He didn’t have to move him so nothing wrong with asking for a 2nd

Only he will have to pay him next year, which he clearly doesn't want to do, or lose him for at best a 3rd round pick if they play the comp game right.
He over asked and it was a clear over ask at a position they have more depth than they wanted in (because of the aforementioned needing to pay him).
Yes you get the player 1 more year, but you could have reset and taken someone with a 3rd for 3 years beyond that, which is no guarantee, but better than the situation where the guy may not even play much if Reese is legit.

Mickey should've offered them a 3rd round pick. Meet in the middle, the art of negotiating.
