Giving Shough as MANY weapons as possible. This isn’t a one year rebuild.

It makes more sense to try and maximize Shoughs production now. He’s an older sophomore. This is the year that they have to try and see what he can do. Give him blockers and give him weapons. Score a bunch of points, build some excitement, Try to compete for the division this year, then go all in on defense next year.

Honestly I’m super happy with the strategy right now

Big time. We’ll be able to find some pieces to make a decent defense, for example Blackmon got picked up pretty late last year IIRC.

Shough has to be a happy man right now.

This and last year are the draft rebuilds.

Next year can be heavy free agency as the cap is finally in good shape.

Mickey told everyone we weren’t one player away, which means I don’t think the front office is viewing 2026 as a year where we need to go into the season with no question marks.

Accumulate talent and set the table for 2027 and 2028. A lot of our picks also give us some leverage/insurance if we don’t resign some guys. For example if we lose Olave or don’t resign Bresee, we picked up a couple receivers and a DT

Man adding Lance , tyson , and delp to the offense is going to help a ton. I’m actually excited for saints football right now. I haven’t been in a long time

Many in the local media are viewing the re-signing of Olave as an inevitability…..but it’s taking a while for a reason. I think Olave believes that he is worth more than what he actually is with his concussion history and his absolute inability to make contested catches.

I actually wouldn’t be shocked if they picked another one with return ability

I would definitely like to re-sign Olave, but not at $35M per (unless that’s the top with incentives)

You have to spend money one way or another. I think of it as we’re probably going to get a top 10 wr1/2 punch right now with Olave + Tyson/bryce for ~$40m a year. That’s a steal

Free agency is still going on right now, and we don't need to wait until post June 1st for comp picks as we already signed far more players than we lost. There is zero chance we can get comp picks already.

I expect that we may see a couple of vet signings within the week. CB for sure but Jordan would still be in play (but less a priority after trading for an edge).

I get what you’re saying, but you still have to view each contract individually. You don’t want another albatross of a contract like we had with MT.

Make no mistake, acquiring all of these weapons is the organization hedging their bets when it comes to Olave…….as well as just putting as much talent around Shough.
