Hope he gets run over by one of the players.

Slap in the face he even calls any playoff games

Shouldn’t be in the NFL, let alone calling championship games

NOLA let him leave town still breathing. That was an oversight.

Why is so much hate aimed at him and the not official that missed the call? How many know that guy by name?

Some may feel the same about you.

I can’t believe he suffered no repercussions from that blown call other than not calling a Saints game. He lied and said he didn’t see it but cameras show otherwise. If that involved Dallas of New York, I don’t think he’s in the league.

I hate that guy, too. What's his name? It's more credible when I know the guy's name whom I despise.

He said he didn’t see the play.
You cam google him looking dead at the play. As head ref he had power to step in and do the right thing.

Inexcuseable that the refs involved [ALL of them], NEVER took responsibility for their massive BLUNDER...nor the head officials of the NFL !!

The side judge had his hand on the flag on his side, ready to pull it out. So HE didn't miss it, but he pussied out when VINOVICH ran up to him and told him NOT to throw the flag !!!
Now, the Head Linesman, whose name escapes me, ACTUALLY UTTERED THESE WORDS: "I didn't see the play." He's the HEAD linesman, but he didn't see the play ??????????
Why wasn't it reviewed in the press box ?????????
Vinovich should be lowered naked with hungry rats and roaches attached to him, on fire, inch be inch into an L.A. sewage treatment plant.......

Actually, his job was to watch the QB until after the pass is thrown. He's also watching for late hits and roughing the passer (a lot of good that did in OT). After that is cleared he can look up field, but is not required to.
With that said, he clearly looked up the field and at a minimum saw the helmet-to-helmet launch (*but NFL is worried about player safety). But, I am sure he saw the PI, just can't say definitively because of the angle he would have had.

Correct. Referee usually stays 5-7 yard behind the LOS, and even though he watched the action later in the play, that's not his primary or secondary responsibility. The two officials primarily involved and responsible (and rarely mentioned), were side judge Gary Caveletto, and Line Judge Patrick Turner.

Exactly - it was Turner who had his hand on his flag, but Caveletto (more senior official) started yelling No No No, so Turner went against his judgement and kept the flag in his pocket. If thrown, then the R & BJ could have came in to help, which I’m sure they would have overruled Caveletto. Because no flag, no discussion.
