After 4pm. I assume you were spitballing or did you have a source that told you that?

Yeah frick that. 32 is too high another pick is just ridiculous. You simply don't give up all that capital for a patriots player unless he is a clearly transcendent player. He may be a good cb for us but that's a ransom when you factor in the contract as well. If he just turned 25 then maybe you consider it but he's going to be in his 30s by the time the contract is done. We're also not a cb away from being legit contenders either where you may go ahead and splurge on a piece

God I hope they don't pull the trigger. This is a great draft for CB's. There are 6 rated as guys who can start day 1.
I would chose 2 in the first 3 rounds. I wouldn't be scared of a safety with cover skills over doubling up on corners either.. Bush is okay but they like to play a 3 safety package quite a bit and they have some safety candidates that should be around 2nd and third round.

Purely an estimate of a draft "guru." Does not mean any of the 6 will be worth a crap. Heck, I have seen plenty of criticism lately on Lattimore and Conley, the top 2 CBs in the draft supposedly with some saying they would not touch Lattimore early given his consistent soft-tissue injuries. Having said that, I would not give up 32 + another pick. If they want two picks, I would offer a 2nd or 3rd this year and a 3rd or 4th next year.

I figured that's what was going to happen. At this point you say frick you, go about your business, and go inquire about Richard Sherman.

Agreed. apparently the belief is the Pats want to keep butler under the 3 mil or whatever he is owed this year and tag him next year so they get 2 more years of him at well below market value.

maybe they want him for this year, but there is no way in hell they plan to franchise him next year because the franchise tag will cost them a big % chunk above whatever the highest paid CB makes. whatever that is, I cant recall the estimate, it has been said 1000 times already its too insane an amount to franchise him so that isn't in any way, a realistic option.

hell no, Sherman isn't worth bringing in, he is a trouble maker and a deva we don't need or want here, address CB needs in draft and move on but don't even consider Sherman, there is a damn good reason no one else signed him yet, because he is not a team player and would need a massive salary to sign

Link? I am relatively sure he gets the normal franchise money, the average of the top 5 at that position, which is what he will be paid anyways. The restricted free agent status is not the same as franchising.

no, you got that wrong, he was a restricted FA this year, that's why he got tendered and why no teams could talk to him, next year he is URFA and that means they can only franchise tag him or he is free to walk.

franchise tag is a good premium above the highest paid player in the league "at that position" if I recall correctly

This Butler deal is no different than Jamie Collins or Chandler Jones. Last year of their deal and BB doesn't plan on them coming back.

No way I'm forking out more compensation than what was given for either of those players...

I'm too lazy to look it up, but it for sure wasn't a 1st round pick.

Hope the Butler deal doesn't happen F that guy. I'd offer a '18 conditional #2 that could become a #1 depending on how Butler plays. That's it... and Saints keep there pics this year, I really don't believe there other teams banging on NE door for this guy. Saints need to fricking read The Art of the Deal. Stop being N E's bitch.

Iirc exclusive franchise tag is top 5, and the regular one is top 10.

He wouldn't be hit with the exclusive tag.

I know what a restricted free agent is. I was assuming you were under the assumption it was some sort of franchise tag, because a first time franchise player gets the higher of 125 percent his current salary or the average of the top 5 at his position. As Butler is only main 3.7 or so million, the Pats would pay him an average of the top 5 next year, which will be his market value anyways.

LINK

So exclusive is top 5 of the current year. Regular is the average of the last 5 years of the top 5.

I knew in some way the regular was less expensive than the exclusive (except in super rare edge cases).
