Ten games into the season, Drew leads the entire NFL in passes that have gone for 20+ yards with 52. Cousins is second with 50, and Brady is third with 49. Brees also leads them despite having only 341 pass attempts for the season. Cousins has 345, while Brady has 380.

I hope this eases the concerns of those that feel Brees doesn't have as much of the "big play arm" that he used to. Not only is Drew still extremely capable of making big plays with his arm, he's quietly having one of his more efficient seasons.

Brees is comparable to a fine wine, because it appears he's actually getting better with age! He's definitely got another two-three years left in him at least.

These are not passes that traveled 20 plus yards in the air keep in mind. Think of all the 2 yard dumps to kamara that go for 20 yards.

This is truly delusional. Nobody can actually believe this outside the most extreme Brees homers. Go look at Drew from 08-13 and tell me you want the guy we are seeing every Sunday this year. That's what I thought

All that said I think he is playing through some pain right now and will have plenty left for the SB run

Not sure how one can believe this.

From a mental standpoint, maybe, but arm strength and physical capability? Absolutely not.

As the previous poster mentioned, go to youtube and watch his games for the first 6 years of his Saints career. His physical ability is exponentially better than it is now.

I honestly think he has 2 legit years left at minimum (he'll still probably be the best option we have even after he starts to regress). He still has plenty of arm strength. We should start getting worried when he looks like Manning did in his last year. Now that was a pea shooter. Brees is also twice the athlete that Manning was & is/was in much better shape.

Watch Tom Brady in comparison over the next few years. NE just traded their heir apparent to Brady, b/c they feel he has a few years left...he's also older than Brees. They both still have it & both are in great shape.

Your point? That can be said for other QBs. The point is he's getting it done.

Why wouldn't I want Brees as our QB? The stats don't lie. He still finds ways to be among the league's elite quarterbacks. That can't be disputed. And yes, I'm a "Drew Brees Homer". Any real Saints fan should be.

Obviously his arm isn't getting any stronger. I never said that.

The bottom line and point of the thread was to point out that he's still among the league's best at converting big plays. It's something to celebrate, not dispute.

Kamara has 4 20+ yard receiving plays. At least 2 of those were on passes downfield from memory

Take away all of kamara's 20+ yard plays and he still leads the nfl

You were completely bashing Brees on Sunday. He made you look like an idiot

Not one damn Saints fan needs to be bitching at all about Drew Brees when you just stop and look at all these other train wrecks at QB position around the league right now. We are very fortunate to have an elite Qb.

Brees is still a top 5 qb, so yes everyone bitching doesnt comprehend how hard it is OK find another good qb. There's 20 other teams either trying or pondering if who they have is good enough.

That being said. The team is building towards allowing him to take a back seat and not have to throw 600 times a season to win. I think the era of 5k yards is over for Brees. He's just going to be a 4500/30/10/105 qb and I think that's more than enough for us to win

All I’m gonna say is 11/11 with 2 TDs late in the 4th quarter.

I will just assume you are referring to Manning and not Brees. And exactly what pain is it that Brees is playing through.

FYI: Brees is tied (with Alex Smith) for 2nd in the NFL with 20 completions on passes traveling 20+ yards through the air.

Only QB ahead of him is Russell Wilson with 22...

Edit to add: He also leads the NFL in completion % on passes traveling 20+ yards. Completing 54.1% of those passes (20/37).

Carry on.

Was my first thought when I read the thread title.

To be fair, he had help from Sproles and Bush doing the same thing you mentioned about Kamara.

Again, agreed. I'm not worried about Brees's deep ball one bit. I find that more often than not, his misses deep have actually been overthrows. The problem is with those midrange outs and comebacks. That's what his INT on the first drive against the Skins came on. May have gotten there ~5 years ago.

Still, he's a top 3 QB in the NFL right now. I think he can be a top 5 QB for another 3 years, then a top 10ish for another 2 years. Brady is a year and a half older, but does anyone doubt that that he's going to be a top 3 QB next season? And Brees is absolutely the better athlete, so I don't see why he can't have a similar timeline.

ETA: Check out his highlights from this past game:

His first pass was a "rocket". He makes one of those ~15 yard outs that were my concern @1:33.

He wore an elbow sleeve for the first time in his career two weeks ago. You think he just decided to do that for no reason?? Probably some mild tendonitis, happens to every throwing athlete, nbd.

And yes I was referring to Manning.

I did not see an elbow sleeve on him in Buffalo or this past Sunday so I'm simply asking when and where was he wearing the sleeve.

I can agree on some of you statement, but the int was an underthtown fly route that also looked late. The out route at 1:33 was precisely timed and a very long throw from the opposite hash.... You can’t do it any better than that.

The early Int.
