Has anyone seen or heard any updates on the proposed renovations to the dome?

I have a friend who works in the dome and she said SMG just briefed them on the timeline. Essentially warning them that they should plan to work less over the next 4 years. Events like Essence could be moved.

Work is to start at the end of this NFL season 2020 and will be completed in phases. Cost is estimated at $450m and includes...

Removal of parking garage between champion square and SKC - expand outdoor entertainment area. Build a new kitchen in corner closest to the dome (will also service SKC). Bid new food service contract - centerplate is likely out.

Removal of ramps. Install more escalators and elevators. Build clubs in ramp areas.

Install field level suites with renovated clubs under bleachers.

Standing room only viewing decks upstairs.

Rename stadium - Benz contract expires 2021 and they left us for Atlanta (mistake).

Upgrade visitor locker room.

Everything is contingent upon state approving $200m bond, but SMG seems to be operating as if thats already a done deal.

There's talk of the Endymion Extravaganza moving to the convention center again next year because of the renovations..

Word is they want it done before the Superbowl in 2024.

I really wish they would bring this in-house. It's NOLA... surely there are local people who can run that operation for Dome/SKC.

With a SB on the books, this won't be an issue.

What about the damn puke colored seats in the terrace area?

And sucks they want to get rid of the ramps. I have memories as a kid rolling down those things. Also it's fun to watch the drunk idiot's try to walk down after the game.

Yep, use to skateboard on them back in the 70's... and the Hyatt side as well way before the NO Center and Champion Square was developed... Remember that ramp, with the brown tiles.....?

That must be my dad.

He's always offering to pressure wash people's houses.

I have 2 in the plaza endzone and 2 in the loge endzone. The amount of people downstairs walking around in the plaza concourse has really turned me off to those seats. My seats in the Girod endzone 300’s will allow me to go to the restroom and get a beer during a commercial break. My Poydras endzone plaza seats will make me miss entire drives to do the same.

The obvious space limitations in the plaza EZ concourse just seem to be magnified by the MANY clueless fans who either have NO idea.. as to WHERE their seats are/how to walk 'in their lane'/continue to stop and chat in the MIDDLE of the narrow concourse vs. stepping to the far side to discuss their very important issues AND more and more concession stands squeezed into the same congested areas...ALL of this creates people jams and should be somehow addressed during this next upgrade ! I hope they address this asap.

This. It's so easy to run to the bathroom or grab a beer without missing much if you time it right.

This worries me. I would hate to lose my Loge EZ seats if they need to clear that area out for this party deck.

It would be so great if it could be named after something that represents Louisiana.

Tabasco Superdome

Abita Beer Superdome

Central Grocer Muffuletta Dome - and paint sesame seeds on the roof and the sides to look like the muffuletta.

I don’t think they would take loge level seats to do that. At that point we start talking about profit. Nearly $1400 seats vs $650 seats.

Tabasco Dome would be the PERFECT branding. Been saying this for years. I agree with this poster.

Do you think any LA companies have or are willing to pay 15-20 million/yr for 10yrs for the naming rights?

Centurylink HQ Monroe LA paid $165m to renew Seahawks stadium though 2033

Kinda sucks that our states biggest international corporate success story doesn’t give back to our state - wtf.

With the Benson interest in Dixie Beer it seems like a far more likely contender than any of those.
