Removal of parking garage between champion square and SKC

The Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District and SMG are being fairly quiet about some of the specifics of the master plan. Every comment is - it’s a work in progress, although they are supposed to start work in February.

One of the biggest aspects of the renovation is the parking garages. I heard an interview with Kyle France of LSED on Friday and he made a comment about how the Domes original architects never anticipated the security needs of the 21st century and kept mentioning the parking adjacent to the stadium being a big concern.

I think all the parking is gone, or limited to very few.

With the Benson interest in Dixie Beer it seems like a far more likely contender than any of those.

How would you like to visit the Dixie Dome?

they are tearing down the walkup ramps inside and adding escalators. And also adding SRO sections kind of like jerry world.

Apparently it's a 4 yr project.

Rename stadium - Benz contract expires 2021 and they left us for Atlanta (mistake).

Falcons was listed as a more valuable franchise so probably was not a mistake.

Plus just build a new stadium and let go of the ugly dome.

And sucks they want to get rid of the ramps. I have memories as a kid rolling down those things. Also it's fun to watch the drunk idiot's try to walk down after the game.

For the first dozen years that the Saints were in the Dome...that last sentence was usually the only good part of a Saints game.

The Superdome has the bones to stand the test of time like other historic venues. I think we can lose two of the parking garage is nearest Champion Square. In 2019 we don’t need them. If you think about it, they are really just 3 to 4 levels of parking anyway. It’s not that much. All of the other new garages downtown can certainly handle the load, plus you have Uber’s.

That is a lot of space to create a grand entrance to the Superdome at ground level. The biggest problem the Superdome needs to figure out is pedestrian movement inside. It is absolutely terrible to walk around inside. Way too much congestion. They need to figure out a way to expand the concourses. More bathrooms on the terrace level will also go a long way.

Yeah, screw that. Whatever shite they replace it with will be far less efficient. Just one more reason to stay home, sadly.
