Does anybody else think that Drew Brees has lost some zip on his deep ball?

It seems to be affecting the way defenses play the Saints as well. Looks as though the Saints do better when they play ball control. Good defense, run the ball, three step drop passing. Never thought I'd have to say that with Sean Payton and Drew Brees.
What I've noticed isn't that he can't push the ball downfield, it's that his accuracy on deep balls has fallen apart. That's usually the first thing that goes when you lose arm strength. Accuracy on deep balls. Not necessarily throwing it deep. When you don't have the arm strength anymore you don't have control because you're pushing your arm past its limits. Just flinging it.
There were two or three throws in last night's game where he not only missed the deep receiver by a good five yards but I remember one specifically to Ginn where he missed so bad it ended up on the wrong side of the receiver. And he wasn't under any pressure and he stepped up into the pocket.
Obviously a 75% Drew Brees is still better than 98% of the other quarterbacks in the NFL but it looks like both Drew and Sean are having trouble coming to grips with this realization. The Atlanta game was a terribly called the game. They barely ran the ball, didn't use any Wildcat packages or anything with taysom Hill and they didn't use a lot of the short passing that they typically use to set up the deep ball. Most of the passing routes were 15 yards plus and I didn't notice a whole lot of check-down routes for the tight end or running back. It looked like they were trying to call a circa 2011 offense.

If you were listening to Romo, he made it clear that Brees placed it where he did because he lost sight of the safety.
But yes, his arm isn't as good as it used to be.

Obviously no one's arm is as good at 40 as it was at 26, but as I said in another thread there wasn't a damn thing wrong with that deep bomb to Ginn except Ginn.

Brees was throwing absolute bullets to Cook over the middle. That’s where a weak arm gets you picked and your WRs killed

Yeah, i think the ref screwed him up on that one. The ref was on the inside of Ginn in the endzone, might of that he was the safety.

i think our biggest problem with the deep ball is that Ginn has to be WIDE open to catch it. Drew has plenty of zip to throw a catchable pass. But unless its essentially a punt, bum arse ginn aint catching it

The one you’re talking about to Ginn was either a misread or a miscommunication, not an arm issue.
There was one earlier where he hit Ginn right in the hands on a well-covered deep shot that resulted in a drop.

I've been critical of Drew's arm plenty of times, but yesterday he was throwing darts.

Drew was straddled across the Saints 39 yd. line when he launched the pass that Ginn dropped on the 12 yd. line. That is roughly 48 yds. in the air perfectly thrown but he was covered well. His short and intermediate passes had plenty of zip on them and he completed 77% of his passes. He has completed 75.7% of his passes so far with a 106.6 passer rtg. No one goes through their progressions faster than he does . Accuracy not distance is what counts , just ask Manning and Brady. I thought he looked exceptional yesterday.

He literally has the same zip on it that he did in 2017. Not much has changed at all.

I think he has lost some strength and accuracy. It's inevitable. I think he's still just fine in both of these respects though. He's been less proficient in throwing bombs because we just don't have the receivers to do so consistently. Ginn is basically the only deep threat and he has stone hands. I really think at this point he's only playing because of experience. Outside of Mike, Kamara and cook we don't have a lot going for receiving targets. If you're going to play someone sub-par might as well have some veteran experience, or at least I assume that's our philosophy.

No, you are the first one to ever think that.

OP is talking about the the pass to Ginn on the last drive!

Of course but he still one of the best and absolutely money with 2 minutes left and the game on the line. I was damn near certain Drew would drive the field yesterday on the final drive and get a TD if needed.
