Did Payton leave us with a weak roster?

Ed O gets a lot of flak for gutting the LSU roster. Does Payton deserve some of the same criticism? Why did we not draft a viable replacement for Drew Brees at QB?

Other than qb? No.

Why would Peyton get blamed for this?
Was he our GM?

I think it was partly arrogance. I think he thought he could take any WR off the street and turn him into Marques Colston, Lance Moore or Willie Snead.
This team seemingly hasn't had an NFL-caliber TE since Jimmy Graham.
The guard position was a hot mess. LT was walking and he knew it.
LB was meh.
QB of course.
Everything else was in good shape.

Technically, no. Realistically....

O and Payton are not comparable in this department
Our coaching staff has not done a good job optimizing our talent. Sure they made some bad decisions (letting MW walk and then signing two old busts at safety for more money being the chief one) this offseason but if Payton was our HC we would be in better shape right now

Our roster is more concerned with being Social Justice Warriors than football players.
As a longtime Saints fan, I'm enjoying the misery of the players and fans that turned into such insufferable aholes and didn't realize how good we had it with Drew and players who cared more about football than teaching people how to live their lives.

NFL and college are a little different. Players can’t just leave. They also get to pick their players. Since most thought the roster was strong coming in, I think it could be the motivation of those players.

I wouldn't go that far. Ben Watson was still very good his first stint with the saints and probably better than anything we had in his second go-round. Definitely an NFL-caliber TE.
We also had Coby Fleener for (I think) 2 years. He wasn't that good with the Saints but he was also definitely NFL caliber.
But yeah, QB, TE, LB then the Oline but that looked more like a work in progress than an on the decline situation to me.

Team was supposed to have a top 5 defense, and a capable offense. Defense fell off a cliff, o-line is the same bust that they tried to address. QB suckage is compounded by the shitty play calling.
If the defense could just be a top 10 defense, this team would have 2 more wins with the shite they have thrown out there on offense.
Better offensive rhythm could have this team knocking on the door of undefeated at this point of the season

We are 2 turnovers and 2 terrible PI (or really a hands to the face and PI) calls away from potentially being 5-1. It ain't the roster.

Bruh you serious or you trying to troll. Loomis was nothing more than a numbers cruncher. All these roster moves were by Payton.

No , He left us with his not a head coach buddy

Our roster is weak because we have been decimated with injuries.

If you don’t have a QB. Roster is weak

This is the only thing accurate about your post.
Now go away and die.

This is a top 5 roster devoid of QB

He definitely checked up a few years before he left
