I'd be pleasantly surprised if it was just a 4th rd pick but don't see it.

Dalton averaged 205 yds ppg this season. Unless your QB is supplementing a number that low with some rushing yards, obviously he wasn't, you can't win that way in the NFL.

That's on Carmichael. Red Rifle had two games with less than 20 attempts which brought down his per game average.

Over their careers Red Rifle and Carr have similar yards per game and similar QBR. I'm not totally against Carr but he better be kinda cheap.

That would result in a 70% decrease in post.

Jeremy Fowler tweet...

Themes emerged from talks w/ teams on Derek Carr:

-Inquiring teams want to rework deal, which they believe Carr probably won't do
-Raiders' asking price modest. One NFL source said 3rd rd pick could get it done
-N.O. believed to be only team engaged to extent of visit as of now

Even by Loomis standards that’s some off the chart can kicking. Carr isn’t getting team to a Super Bowl. This is irresponsible incompetence at best and malfeasance at worst.

Carmichael stinks but nobody's gameplanning for Dalton to throw the ball around and win the game for you anymore

trouble is we don't have WR's that scare anyone anymore.

they key on Kamara and the O-line has been shaky from a health standpoint.

the way things have been going we're screwed no matter what.

that's why this news doesn't do shite for me.

Looks like the rebuild will be delayed at least another year.

If we get Carr, prepare for the organization to stick with him through several 2014-2016 type Saints seasons

They won’t have to intentionally lose the games. Dennis Allen’s coaching will do it for him and if he wants a QB maki g $40 million a year that is only league average and is a little strange personality wise then we deserve to lose. The only avenue is a proper compete tear down and rebuild with young draft picks. Cam, Demario and Mathieu are on their way out. Kamara is approaching the decline age and showed it at times this year. It’s not all bad. You have a young OL that has a chance to be a real strength if Penning turns out to be solid and we find a you d guard in the draft to take Peat’s spot or just kick Hurst inside as a bandaid. He plays so much better at LG than LT. You’ve got 2 very good young WR and a good young TE in Johnson. You’ve got Taysom Hill who is a flat out pjaymaker. You have 3 damn good LB if you sign Ellis to come back and you have a star in the making in Alonte Taylor to go with Lattimore. This team deserves a young QB on a cheap deal so you can use that money elsewhere like the DL that needs to keep Granderson and Onyemata but their replacements need to be drafted now. Why pay $40 million to get average play when you can find that with a guy on a rookie deal?

Carr is top 15 QB in NFL. Carr will get a nice 4 or 5 yr deal and 29th pick goes to Raiders

If we give up anything more than a 4th with raiders eating some salary on a restructured deal, I’ll lose it. Raiders have no leverage whatsoever. Carr has them bent over the barrel. There’s a reason you dont hear of any other smoke of teams trying to make the trade. We the only suckers…..

1st and 2nd shouldn’t even be discussed. 3rd or 4th only if Raiders are giving salary csp relief to us.

Carr the player is ok. Leader, protects the football, can make all the throws

It’s giving up compensation and the contract that make this hard to swallow

I’d love to have Carr. I don’t understand the hate by some on this board. He’s a good QB and a good leader as you mentioned.

Best case scenario is he picks the Saints as his destination and we only offer our 4th.

It's like no one watched Andy Dalton struggle to pass for 200 yards last season

Carr passing yards per game: 234.8
Dalton passing yards per game: 205.1

Carr attempts per game: 33.4
Dalton attempts per game: 27

So Carr averaged just ~30 yards more per game - of course he did because he also attempted 6 more passes and had more chances for yardage every game. Oh and he had Davante Adams all year and some combination of Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs while Dalton is throwing to Chris "No YAC" Olave, Juwan Johnson, the ghost of Alvin Kamara and Rashid Shaheed.

I would only say he is a average QB. And my confidence in our play calling is below average.

He’s a $15-20 million per year QB, not $40 million. That’s Lamar Jackson type money and he even isn’t worth that. If you love Hendon Hooker then take him at 29 so you get the 5th year option if he turns out to be good. Then sign Dalton or someone like him. My bridge QB pick is Jacoby Brissette. Let the vet play the first half of the year then give Hooker the ball when he’s heathy and let him get his feet wet. If you don’t love a QB at 29 that’s fine. Try to trade out of it to get another 2nd and use those picks to bolster the roster around the future QB that you don’t have yet. I would absolutely take a chance on someone like Max Duggan or Jaren Hall on day 3.
