30 million could’ve afforded him to live comfortably 3-4 years in California can’t believe he gave that up

That $30M is prorated bonus money that was already paid/received. He’s only walking from his league minimum salary ($1.25M) unless there is an injury guarantee built in

To all the “face painter” Karens on her fricking pissing and moaning about the Saints resign of Derek Carr - we fricking told you so.

DCarr has been banged ip for two straight years. The writing was clearly on the wall that his body was washed.

Looks like he knew what we could all see - that he was not going to be able to play 16 game seasons anymore, etc.

Bye DC, thank for your services, in a perfect world it wouldve worked out. Like Jameis, DC got hurt two straight years and thst was a wrap.

Any cap gurus out there care to explain in simple terms what this will mean? Is it good? Or bad?

From Nick and Trip:

Now the Saints aren’t expected to be on the hook for the full $40 million that was guaranteed to Carr this season.

We will wait to break down the exact financial ramifications. But at the very least, the Saints will still need to be charged at least $40.132 million in dead money from Carr’s previous signing bonuses. But that figure would have been $80.132M in dead money if they were required to pay his full salary.

That cap hit will likely be spread over both 2025 and 2026 if Carr waits until after June 1 to file the official paperwork.

Literally the best case scenario for us out of nowhere. Mana from heaven.

Ok, I had no faith this was an option. Makes me believe the Saints knew there was a major issue with the shoulder and worked some language into the restructure in the event he retires, probably why it wasn’t so automatic and Carr was making comments about not taking a pay cut.

Glad to be wrong about this, would be the 2nd time I was wrong about Carr

A stapler is better than the circus around Shedur. The video of his and Cam Ward tells me everything I need to know

No it makes Sanders look even worse. The Saints knew of this injury before the draft and still thought Shough was the better player which he obviously is.

Guaranteed if you’re playing. No wonder your opinions are so ill informed.

They absolutely knew - which is why I laugh at the outrage when before the draft Mickey wouldn’t answer questions - why tip your hand to anything?
