Derek Carr has informed the raiders that he’s refusing a trade anywhere.

This is actually good news because if we do get him it will cost us nothing when they cut him. But if he signs with the saints I guarantee we are getting fined for tampering.

Sources: #Raiders QB Derek Carr has informed the team he won’t accept a trade to the #Saints or any other team. The team is expected to release him and he’ll be a top free agent.

Guess somebody else posted after me too but yeah.

He’s going to sign with us. We played the Raiders like a fiddle. And Carr fricked over like the Raiders in the process.

Saints sign carr without giving up a pick.
Saints are deemed as tampering.
Saints lose 1st round pick

Saints lose 1st round pick

It isn't tampering if the raiders knowingly allowed it. Tampering means they didn't know about it. See how that works?

I'm sure the raiders' permission was to discuss him coming in a trade. If the talk turned into signing him without a trade, I can see how that could be deemed tampering.
I don't think this is what happened though... I think carr wants to see if he can do better than us

quote:I know you’re joking, but if the Saints do sign Carr as a FA, they played it perfectly. It gets released that Saints / Raiders have pretty much agreed to terms and its in Carr’s court. He declines any trade, which is his right. Saints in no way can be deemed as tampering and don’t lose compensation.

Wait, never mind…

I mean unless they have evidence we literally argued he should decline the trade, the conversation was the same.
He was getting a new contract via trade or free agency. I don't imagine there would be much of a difference how we acquired him.

I felt like this was how it was always going to go down.

He was granted a visit.
Wont cost a pick but the price tags may be increasing a little bit. We will see.

Roger Goodall gets off on screwing the Saints. See how that works.

There's going to be at least one or two teams interested in him. This is a smart move by Carr.
If I was Carolina, Atlanta or Tampa, I would try and start a bidding war just to frick with us.

If the Jets don’t get Rodgers, they’ll probably throw the bank at Carr.

Probably visited with his wife, took a long close look around the Franchise AND the City then decided to explore other potential opportunities.

You don't seem to get it. This guy spins whatever he wants concerning the Saints from faking injuries, Covid-19 violations, bountygate thousands of pages reduced to one page of chicken scratch, and the no call.

Roger Goodell doesn't understand laws. Remember when the old commissioner came in and told Goodell he couldnt go after the Saints to the degree he wanted to initially and reversed some of his rulings?

If I was the Saints I would let him walk at that point. He’s not a franchise quarterback.

Looking at the Saints objectively, it's still a good spot for a QB.
We still have an O line, Kamara and Thomas (if he can unbreak himself), defense still has Demario and Lattimore and some solid linemen. You move Cousins or Stafford here, we'd win... I think Carr fits that too.

We were his first recruiting visit. He was never going to give up his leverage and miss out on a new contract. I think it speaks volumes that we were the only team that he would meet with, and he spent an extra day here.
