Keith Butler would be fantastic but when he interviewed for the Colts DC job last season, the Rooney's "took care of me monetarily". He will be LeBeau's replacement in Pittsburgh.

Jim Tomsula

I'm really intrigued by him, but from what I've been reading, he's been talked about as a HC candidate, so would he take a DC job? This article for example, states that if Tom Gamble (49ers Dir. Player Personal) landed a GM job, he would likely take Tomsula as a HC. Luckily the teams interested in Gamble already hired different GMs.

Tomsula makes sense as a head coach candidate. He has primarily been a defensive line coach, but he gained some coordinator and head coaching experience in NFL Europe. Tomsula has "only" been coaching since 1998, but something about him strikes me as head coaching material. He commands the respect of players, and with the right staff supporting him, I have a hunch he could be an excellent head coach.

He's my #1 right now. Hopefully he would be interested in the job.

We keep getting big name DC's after Gary Gibbs, but they don't really pan out. Hopefully, someone will want to come here that can really turn things around. All that we need is an average defense that can get some timely stops and we are golden.

I hope we don't get a college guy.

Singletary or Del Rio would be ideal IMO.

Me too but The Rant's meltdown of Chavis leaving would be funny though

Id say Gregg Williams worked out okay, we won a super bowl and had the best record in the league during his 3 year tenure

Please take Chavis off the list. Ridiculous notion

Kirby Smart can be removed too. Unless he's bringing Saban with him

According to pft Payton said he's not in a hurry to make this hire.

If that's the case, I'm led to believe that we're looking at someone on the staffs of the SB teams.

My top 3:

Crennel
Del Rio
Singletary

All have very solid, near top of the pack 3-4 defenses

I absolutely do not want Chavis to leave LSU
