I definitely would have kept Kilty, he was really good in camp. I think he’s better than Simpkins……maybe Simpkins is better at backing up C?

Kilty was definitely better than him at G though.

Both are good depth guys though

I think you may see Ruiz play C and Wright move to starting OG if something happens. Asim Richards can play OT/ OG. Sherman is apparently looking better than Simpkins at backup C and can play C/ OG.

Could keep just Richards/ Sherman/ Wright, sign Simpkins/ Kilty to PS, and call them up if needed.

If C gets hurt Wright starts. If OG gets hurt Wright starts. OT= Richards. That's how I see it going right now.

I believe this is the plan, to keep a slim 8 or 9 (if we keep a 9th it will be someone else who can play tackle). You aren't keeping more than 5 total at iol, and 3 to 4 at tackle.

If they don't keep a 4th tackle on the 53 they will end up on the ps. But what you have right here shows exactly why Simpkins and Kilty won't be on the 53, because you have a couple ahead of them already at iol.

Slightly surprised but not shocked.

I predicted they likely only keep 4 at CB because they are having 2/3 safeties playing the star/nickel role, so you only need 4 to play outside corner and maybe dime back the rare times we need to play dime.

The top 3 are obvious, and I thought they'd go with Yiadom over Price, but it could also be a situation where they keep the young/cheap guy initially for salary purposes and bring back Yiadom after week 1. Or maybe Price just impressed that much that we are just moving on from Yiadom, because honestly while he is vet depth, he hasn't looked too good the last 2 years.

Edit:
Also signals Riley should be ready to go. If he was still too banged up no way we cut Yiadom as we'd maybe carry 5, or go with the experience to start. This signals that we don't need experience and can let Price develop on the 53 and not risk him.

Big question is what happens on the DE/DL front.

DE:
Michael Heldman
Chris Rumph

Interior DL:
Myles Cole
Khristian Boyd

Could all get cut, could keep 2+. Probably the biggest focus on waivers once teams finish cuts.

If you're on the field for the last defensive snap of preseason it's a bad sign.

This is why I think we will see pinching at other positions, to keep some more dline/edge depth.

Not sure all 4 make it but I think 3 do, and we hope to stash the other.

Rumph might be the most cuttable to bring back, so I can see that happening where he is off the initial 53 but comes back week 2.

Don't see him going anywhere. The special teams value plus the star fit makes him too intriguing of a prospect to risk.

You can't read his story and not pull for the ultimate non quitter
