1) Derek Carr

2) Cam Jordan

3) Taysom Hill

4) Tyrann Mathieu

For me, I try to trade Carr but cut him and eat the money

I try to convince Hill to retire and stretch out the hit but cut him in not.

Explore retirement with Jordan but he sounds like he wanted to play more so restructure. He’s a legend in NOLA and that means something. Maybe offer a renegotiate 1 year deal that sets him up for retirement after next season.

Mathieu apparently wants to play another year or two and I feel like he still has value on the defensive as a leader. Same as Cam offer him a year renegotiated contract they sets him up for retirement after 2026.

Cut Carr(Contract was a huge mistake bu Doomis)

Keep Taysom based on prospect of recovery (This city and the Team are exponentially better with him and the commitment he has shown)

Keep Jordan....Period. Find a way for him to be a part of the defence.

Cut Tyrann. Secondary always struggles and he won't be a huge miss.

That’s the problem, you have to get cap compliant in March. Some of these will be extended to accomplish this magical feat Loomis does every year that is celebrated on Saints boards. The astute fans here posting about the cap death spiral are spot on.

Carr and Taysom imo. Cam you try to extend with the league minimum and soft land his remaining cap hit (good veteran presence). I'd hold on to Mathieu for atleast one more year, but I also recognize I'm biased towards him.

Loomis should change the modus-oporatundo of contracting aging players once we get out of purgatory.

Contacts aside,, losing Jordan or Hill would weaken the roster.

Consistently rated as one of the worst safeties by PFF. He’s lost more than a step and hasn’t defended a pass since he’s been here.

You have your head in the sand.

It is not possible to do this. We will be pushing money into void years to get legal. It's a question of who.

I kinda agree about Hill but at this point you do not know what we’ll be getting back with Hill in basically 2026. He’s not coming back from his knee injury until miss to late 2025 at the best and mostly like 2026.

At that point you have to move forward with your offense and that means no Hill and no one to fill the hill role. Should you even taylor an offense around someone who’s not available and no one can play his role. IMO the time has come for this team to move in from Hill. Probably hurts some feeling but it’s the truth if you’re rebuilding this team.

You’re going to see one more year with all 4 on the roster. I have no issues with it either

Let’s compile a list of teams who’d want Carr?

Giants?
Raiders?
Jets?
Steelers?
Colts?

Hill will be a 35 year old running gadget player off a major injury. His career is likely entering its absolute twilight. Hopefully he retires because the overwhelming odds suggest his play will likely fall off a cliff.

Which is totally fine in the short term. I’d argue that them getting reps in a guaranteed meaningless season at their advanced ages hurts the roster even more.

Carr is not a bad option as a bridge QB for some team in an offseason devoid of FA QB talent.

Add to it the Saints will be picking up at least some of his contract and maybe throwing in a draft pick as opposed to a team having to give up draft assets to trade for a Matt Stafford.

It’s doable and Carr would have to waive his no trade clause but honestly does he want to stay in New Orleans if the new HC doesn’t want him? He knows he’s not going to be around to see this team be successful again and by that time he’s 35-36 going where?

The Saints could cut him but there’s no way he gets 40 mil for one season anywhere. Even 30mill after you account for the saints playing him 10 mil. My guess is on the open market he gets 1 year 10 to 15 mil deal. So in that scenario he makes 25 mil in 2025 if we cut him. If he waives the NTC he gets paid his 40 mil a
Split up among the saints and whoever trades for him.
Getting ride of Carr is not about the 2025 season for the saints. It’s about 2026 and beyond.

I don’t see a scenario where all three are back next year.
Aside from the fact that Hill will be in begin the season on IR and more than likely they’ll handle him like Ramczyk and put him on PUP for the 2025 season and re-evaluate his role and health later in the season or next offseason.
The key will be what happens with Carr.

Cam Jordan wouldn’t make another roster in the league.

He’s done. He’s on the roster because we can’t afford to cut him.
