Really helped himself with that 4.53

230 and ran a 4.53. If anyone thought he was not a good athlete hopefully that changed their mind

Ben Tate

combine star that nobody is talking about, who was productive at AU in a variety of systems

Tate runs fast for his size! 220 and a 4.4

The running back class is deep.. along with the tight end class.. so if we do want to go offense at any point.. it could still wait till the 4th or so round..

I can't wait to see what y'all have on your collective minds after today's action. I love linking to my months-old posts about guys that are "suddenly" the sh*t.

As 610 said earlier, the guy the Saints should be targeting is Pitta from BYU. This cat was very smooth and has GREAT hands. Dickerson form PITT, is not that great of a catcher, and I think he just showed what the combine can do for a prospect.

Jimmy Graham is a little interesting because his athletic ability. Problem is, he will have to be drafted in the 2nd, and might not see playing time for a while. Pitta might not be as athletic, but is all around better, by miles.

I would actually love Gerhart in the 2nd or 3rd, or just wait for Scott in the 4th.

My ultimate pick is Weatherspoon in the 1st. PERIOD!

more like the 6th or 7th after yesterday. he tested horribly. no explosiveness (bad vertical/broad)

ditto Scott, maybe a FA tryout.

One combine report on him:

Charles Scott/LSU; solid change of direction yet lacked balance, showed no burst, and was all too often found on the ground. Dropped some easy passes.

Jerry Hughes is 255 and just ran a 4.59 - not bad for a DE, right?

I thought Gearhart and Tate shined yesterday. The real needs for the Saints will be coming up. Kindle and Hughes ran well, and Weatherspoon looks like a beast in the weight room.

Aaron Hernandez Report: Failed drug tests caused Aaron Hernandez's draft fall

Glad we got Graham. He is much better suited for our offense.

what is it with these gators..

quote:

Once thought to be a borderline first-round talent, Florida tight end Aaron Hernandez fell to New England at pick No. 113 in the draft. Now we may know why.

Albert Breer of the Boston Globe reports that Hernandez failed "multiple" drug tests for marijuana use at Florida. He reportedly admitted to the failed tests at the Scouting Combine. Hernandez passed the test given in Indianapolis.

"These kids, they don't get it,'' an AFC personnel director told the Globe. "[Hernandez] cost himself a lot of money.''

Despite the issues, everyone that talked to the Globe said Hernandez was a tremendous value where he was drafted. But the failed tests scared teams away.

"He's not a bad kid. He just has an issue," one executive said.

Hernandez won't be enrolled in the league's substance abuse program, but he could be subject to extra testing.

i don't think smoking is the worst thing in the world.. but very poor judgement.. especially to get caught.
