The Saints were a bad football team the last few years because of three things:
1. Poor coaching
2. Misevaluation of talent
3. Poor contracts with aging/non-producing vets
I don’t think they are poorly coached. At least not yet. I believe they’ve addressed that.
The talent evaluation is a mixed bag but not something that can be fixed overnight. See what the rest of the season brings as to how they can evaluate who stays and who goes.
The contracts issue wasn’t made worse by Carr retiring, but they still have Cooks that stupid contract and had to rework a bunch of guys. We all know where the problem lies and that doesn’t have an end in sight.
Realistic expectations would be at least a three year rebuild. That doesn’t mean Super Bowl, but I expect to see a competitive football team trending in the right direction.

kicking a FG down 35-3 on a 4th and 2 from the 30 yard line is some of the most chicken shite stuff i've ever seen.
And of course we missed it to add icing on the cake.

And they had less talent when he took over.
They’ve nailed their drafts because they also have a good GM, we still have Mickey for the foreseeable future.
The 2022 draft, you gave up a look for an average NFL WR2, Taylor has contributed
The 2023 draft netted us Breesee and a back up RB
2024 Fuaga and the rest doesn’t look good…kool aid sucks
2025 early but again looks like you got 1 starter out of it
So kind of tough to have faith in a Lions like turnaround with the roster in poor shape so you have no base to build around, lingering cap issues, draft evaluation issues within your scouting department, and an owner blind to it all. We’re probably more comparable to that shitty Dolphins team mentioned earlier than the lions

FIFY
All 3 were decision makers and responsible for setting the franchise back 10 years, this is not on K. Moore.

The lions got two firsts and a third for Stafford too. So not only did they have a QB in Goff, they had extra valuable draft capital to add to their already high picks. This also coincided with resetting their cap. They had a nice recipe to rebuild. We don’t have the luxuries they had

I just wonder if they are on the same page like they say they are or if that's just for show.
I'm talking about when it comes to the draft.
I couldn't help but notice that when other teams were making their first round selection that they were all excited and cheering and high-fiving cuz they felt like they had got their guy.
But when it was the Saints turn to pick there was hardly any enthusiasm at all. I'm not trying to take a shot at banks or anything but it was almost as if The body language in there was
Well we have to take another lineman because we haven't quite gotten the line right yet still.

I was perfectly fine with the first 2 game performances. The last game was pretty rough, but let's not overreact.

He's dealt with the cards given.
What more do you want him to do?
I honestly think the players are quitting and don’t give a sh*t.

I don't think you can put Payton on the list, definitely not #1, for the reason why this franchise is being set back. There is no argument that he did not have this franchise setup for success after Brees left. But he did not overpay for Carr, Mathieu, Jamaal Willimas, Cooks, amongst others. Renegotiate Latt then trade him after paying the poising pill. No part in the 2022 pre-draft trades...
You avoid doing all of the above and just let them team take their lumps from 2022-2024, this team "could" be in position to challenge TB for the South at a minimum.

Ireland is still living off of one perfect draft and people here still assume he’s great when our drafts tell a totally different story. I don’t get it

Yeah I’m not sure everyone truly understands how long of a rebuild we’re looking at here
Getting a franchise qb can help expedite things but between being barely able to afford any FAs in recent years and not doing near well enough in the draft to compensate for that, its a very thin and shitty roster. Bad OL with nothing to write home about from your skill positions is a recipe to really frick up your new qb
But hey at least we used a second last year to lock down the QB TBD’s back up….

Who cares?
Let him have a couple of years to bring in his own players and implement his system before you pass judgement.
Your take on this is rash and impetuous.

Sean Payton is on this list because he left the organization in disarray. He failed to draft a successor for Drew Brees, refused to move up to select Patrick Mahomes, and passed on Lamar Jackson. The list of poor draft picks goes on, including Marcus Davenport and Tommy Stevens. Let's also discuss his predictable play-calling. While it worked during the regular season, every team knew his plays in the postseason. He is part of the reason we never won again, despite having one of the best regular-season teams. After making such a mess of the organization, he retired, claiming he was burned out. Yeah, right! Sean Payton is a major disappointment who ruined the organization and set us back for a decade.

The team played the first two games close enough that if they had eliminated most of the penalties we could have won 1 or both games.
Everyone can go on about the roster and lack of talent. Doesn’t excuse the sloppy penalties. That’s a reflection on coaching. Add to that the in game clock management and not working the officials. KM has to get better like I said in the first place. The lack of talent isn’t on him but the way they show up and play is. Never should they be so sloppy with penalties.

This is the absolute stupidest fricking take I’ve seen here. Congratulations to you, combination of a Neanderthal and a lobotomized dipshit.

We have a misguided fanbase, and that’s largely why Mickey gets to run the franchise the way he does. All he needs to do is make one good trade to win back your favor. Go put your bag on!!

True but why all the sudden trade draft picks for Vele and even Polk although it's like a 6th or a 7th.
It's just when your team is the way it is then why in the frick would screw around with future draft picks?
but that's right.
They signed Cooks and he'll fix all of that. Ignore the fact he's bounced around the league and probably only came back because the Saints gave him an offer no other team would.
