anyone agree? they're both big bruising, average speed, injury prone backs.

Not at all. Deuce was like Kevin Faulk in college and turned into the bruiser after a long NFL career. Chris Wells is more like Eddie George or Jamal Lewis.

Knee injuries forced Deuce to become a bruiser. Before that Deuce had really good speed.

Don't forget that Deuce could catch and pass block as well.

+1.75 Trillion

Everyone seems to forget that Deuce was a fast back coming out of Ole Miss. Once he hurt his knee, he knew he wouldn't have that speed anymore and got bigger to make up for it.

out of college, his measurables were

6'1" 222lbs
40 time - 4.41 secs

In fact, the reason he fell to us was due to him playing with a back injury his senior season. At the beginning of his season he was rated the #1 RB, and it was the awesome combine workouts of LT that shot him up ahead of Deuce

Agree. Deuce had breakaway speed not often seen in backs his size. His injury troubles caused him to drop in the first round. He was always nicked up in college.

Chris Wells is a better prospect overall coming out than Deuce was, IMO

How he turns out is to be seen. Deuce was widely regarded as a Top Ten pick and a steal at #23.
I reviewed mocks, the first two CNNSI and USAtoday had him at #9 & #6.

Wells is projected in the mid 20's picks.

According to most common values of each, Wells at #14 would be a reach almost as much as Deuce was a can't pass on BPA.

Wells has NOT proven that he is tough, can catch a pass, block, or has the heart and guts to run over people. Moreno >>>> Wells.

only missed 3 games the last 2 years(all this past season)

Perhaps the 'nicked up' injuries or the mysterious injury that sidelined him one game? How about stepping out of bounds ala Reggie? His toughness is in question by many scouts & analysis, agree or not.

i dont mind a player stepping out of bounds instead of taking a hit. Why take a hit when you dont have to?

Comparing him to Reggie is just stupid though. Wells CAN run between the tackle. And he doesn't exactly shy away from contact between the hash marks

it's called going to the pros, man, until he proves himself in the league all that shite he did in college goes out the window. that is why I said jury is out on him in my earlier post.

Naturally, Saints' fans have an overrated opinion of Deuce. Wells is probably a more talented back coming out of college. I think Beanie will be a solid pro; I wouldn't be mad if the Saints picked him.

Beanie is a better prospect than Duece but I would rather trade our pick at #14 to the Raiders for their 2nd rounder, 3rd rounder and Michael Bush rather than just draft Wells at 14. Wells is the type of back that would be great in a Power style running game. We will only need 10 to 15 carries from a power back of his type.

both are bruisers, I know Beanie is not as good at blocking or catching, but I think he'll improve those areas will improve if he's in the Saints system
