How the frick are the refs blowing this so badly? Loss of downs. Our ball at the 44

Let’s just get the ball

hat makes zero sense that that happens on 4th down. It’s a penalty, and yet they get another 4th down to punt?
If they hold on 4th down and we accept, the down is replayed.
I would think the illegal forward pass penalty being accepted is the same.

How is it not?
That would mean on every blown up 4th down attempt just throw it to a lineman and take your 5 yard penalty then try again.

How is that not a chiefs first down? That was a fumble. his arm was not coming forwar.

quote:They ruled it a pass, in which he illegally gained first down. So yes you replay the down. Just like any other penalty.
Should be turnover on downs
If they ruled it a fumble, then he couldn't advance, that would be a turnover on downs.

Either way, another great stop by the D.

So we HAD to take that penalty? I don't get it.

We still in this! Run the ball and then long shots!

Can’t advance fumble on 4th down
Posted on 12/20/20 at 4:47 pm to dcrews
So basically they could’ve had another 4th down to go for it if they wanted. Dumb af nfl rules are dumb
Posted on 12/20/20 at 4:47 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
It’s just a really good break for KC.
Posted on 12/20/20 at 4:47 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
Can’t advance a fumble on 4th down it would come back the the spot of the fumble and be a turnover on downs

quote:You're probably going to correct but if that guy can't legally make that catch, it just feels like a weird rule.
I would think if you decline the penalty, it's a completion for a first down
Just saying we should be able to decline and get the ball at the original spot or something.
They made a penalty and benefitted 30+ yards by their mistake.

I thought so too
Posted on 12/20/20 at 4:47 pm to HailHailtoMichigan!
Can’t advance a 4th down fumble anyway. Would have been a Saints 1st down where he caught the “fumble”
Posted on 12/20/20 at 4:48 pm to saintsfan22
quote:yep. Loop hole the heck out of that rule.
