So, do we like $5 Million in new dead money for 2027 for 1 year of Cam, or would we prefer no Cam and no new dead money next year?

I'll personally take the $5 Million hit.

Remember, their other FA signings this year have had no voidable years.

If you don’t understand this mechanism by now you’re never going to get it

Don't we have the ability to not do this, anymore, though?

This only makes sense if you're up against the cap and need to kick can. We're not in that position anymore.

This 5m is the only major dead money that I see on next years cap. 2026 has 114m in dead money. They will have 21m in cap space before they start playing with it. They'll be fine.

That's what I thought as well. Per OTC, they still have $6.6M in cap space for 2026. They deferred $4.9M.

I guess they want to save that in case they want to make another move between now and the trade deadline without having to restructure anyone

Guess the benefit is, if they do nothing, the entire $6.6M rolls forward and absorbs the $4.9M anyway.

Seems a good cheap one year deal spread to give more room this year.

They just can’t be great. The entire point of not bringing back the old players back was future cap

What do you mean by that? Obviously, this will cost us in future years.

This team is spending future years money on this year for Cam Jordan. I view that as an easy to identify mistake.

This type of money spread out is almost nothing…no reason to bother anyone.

borrowing 2 million on a bigger salary cap is a smaller % than the same 2 million being used from today's salary cap and %.

Any kind of backloaded deal could be justified by that logic.

I don’t agree with making these decisions with where we are in the rebuild. And I don’t agree with doing it for Cam.

If you haven't figured out how dead money can negatively impact a team by now, I don't think you'll ever figure it out.

What is smarter to you. Count Cams salary all this year or tey to keep a little more money on hand this year for FAs or extending the contracts of top players?
