Oh the irony, in dealing with rantards people are acting like rantards...

I guess so. The op was a emotional overreaction, which led to a chest thumping rant, which led to my "you guys are overreacting" rant, which led to people telling me to frick off.

I was born in Morgan City, LA and the moved to the Florida Panhandle when I was 11. I live in Norfolk, VA now. Been a Saints fan ever since I was bit by the football bug at 5.

Why? Because I don't live in LA?

the new orleans area, specifically. Yes.

i know it sounds cliche as hell, but it has been more than just a game the last few years.

Well for one I never said that it's "just a game." I said "I love the Saints, but it's a damn game." And that was in response to other fans taking themselves so seriously that they felt the need to call other people "posers" or "fake fans." It's silly. Just because someone freaks out doesn't mean they're not a fan. It just means they don't know how to stay calm and they have these knee jerk reactions.

Im a fan of winning not losing. So when my team is playing like shite and losing im going to express my disgust until they turn it around. Its okay to be mad and call it like you see when your team is playing like shite and you dont like what you see. Just like anything else in life. Some people are just a little quick to fly off the handle than some other patient people.

No offense, but you deserved to get your balls busted for it. I just thought some people took it too far.

maybe if you were in the dome the night we beat ATL 5 years ago and saw the tears and indescribable emotions that were in everyone's eyes and faces, then you would understand what this means to us and that it's not just a game. but you know, living in virginia kind of makes that impossible. to you, two teams playing for the most points is just a game; that's fine with me, but don't come here telling those of us who live here and put our hearts into this "game" that that's all it is to us. you may be able to trivialize its importance, but you are flat wrong.

this "game" is one of the most unifying events of this town and its people. I walked down all sorts of roads the night of the super bowl and hugged/high-fived/celebrated with people that on any other night wouldn't look at me with any semblance of concern. hell, some of those people on other nights might wish me ill will or attempt it. but none of that mattered, because for all of us it was way more than "just a game".

and yes, people who come here during a game and post threads that the team sucks, will lose and is playing with no heart are absolutely fake fans. this isn't chest pumping or grandstanding; it's truth. real fans support their teams through good and bad, not just when everything is ice-cream and cake. those are what the world labels as bandwagon fans. nobody here coined that phrase; it's been around for a while.

so get out of here with your "just a game" attitude and your defending of those who start and post these factually inaccurate and completely disrespectful threads. while these fools have the right to say whatever ridiculous crap that they want to spew out, I too have the right to call them out on it..... which I did and will continue to do.

now don't mistake me. constructive criticism is welcome on here, but this is anything but that. I can care less if they are frustrated or not; it's annoying and insulting to those of us that put our money and hearts into supporting this team every year.

and go tell the players that it's "just a game"

Dude, I didn't say "it's just a game." I said "I love the Saints, but it's a damn game" in response to blow hards like you.

Yeah, I may be in Virginia, but it's more than a game to me as well. It effects my entire life. I make it a priority. I went to the games up in FedEx in 08 and 09. My wife was having contractions with our first son before I left for the game in 08, but she didn't tell me because she knew how much it meant to me. I'm a calm person, and I never get excited except when I'm watching the Saints. When the Saints are playing, I'm screaming and jumping around.

What I hate more than doom and gloom post is people calling other people fake fans or bandwagon fans. It's ghey as shite. I never defended the op. He deserved to get ripped. Just knock it off with this poser fan crap.

yeah, and right there is your problem. I guess winning the race for the most useless threads on ST is what qualifies one as an expert on this, right? that's what is ghey as shite. It's quite apparent that only you and one other person on this thread feel that way, while everyone else is siding with me and Lester. Majority rules dipshit.

If you can't see how the "doom and gloom" (as you word it) posters are completely offensive to those of us who pour our emotions into this team through good and bad times and why that completely infuriates us, then you are no different than they are.

You don't live here though, so I can't expect you to understand

I would have to agree. But only to a small degree of which this site on gameday cannot be used as an example. It is so extreme here it is ridiculous and the responses have been so off the cliff and utterly nonsensical that it far exceeds a simple knee-jerk reaction.

Yeah, well I suspect you have a lot of young fans on here who are drinking heavily. Honestly, their post do bug me. So much that I don't come on here on gameday anymore. I just don't like the chest thumping stuff, although I was guilty of it when I told people to blow me. Technically that would be nut thumping.

Dude the OP wasn't having a knee jerk reaction, he was turning his back on the team at the first sign of struggle. He turned off the tv... No true saints fan in there right mind would of turned yesterday's game off. He is a bandwagon fan and it's clear as a day. If you can't see that... then you my friend are niave.

precisely. I only saw these threads today since they were bumped. saying the defense isn't playing well or that the offense is out of sync is one thing. saying that players don't care, that you turned off your tv and that there's no way they will win is something more, and it's outrageous. this is much more than simple frustration.

it makes it worse when said poster comes back later trying to laugh it off like it's all cool. that's freaking weak

Look, we're both bothered by these type of post. That we can agree on.

What we disagree on is calling people fake fans. I don't think we'll see eye to eye on it. I'll admit it's been a pet peeve of mine on forums for a while.

The op was dumb for posting this shite. Even though I thought some of the post went over board, he was asking for it.
