A better start might be dumping lausha, loomis and payton....a fish rots from the head down and those 3 ARE the head ! Problem is OWNERSHIP no longer is incapable of holding the current "leadership" RESPONSIBLE for a score of faulty personnel and tactical decisions.

Lauscha is the money man behind the Benson empire......he's not involved in football despite his Saints administrative title.

The "football brain trust" is Loomis and Payton.

Benson is in bed watching his bank accounts grow.

Might as well. From the top down is terrible. New front office, coaching, trade for assets...it’s needed. People will bitch and won’t want to do it, but it’s needed.

Try Wade Phillips as DC first.

I agree with mgmt, coaching and scouting, but we have some really good pieces that any coach coming in would certainly want.

You could still get rid of >80% of our roster and feel good about the moves you made.

Didn't we try that before? Wasn't he an interim head coach for us before Mora?

We cant.

Here is a great article by Triplett
Downfall of saints defense

quote:

"There’s no consistency. I mean, there’s new faces every year. Nobody even gets to know each other. And because they’ve been bad, they just keep rotating guys," said former Saints linebacker Scott Shanle. Former Saints cornerback Jabari Greer echoed the same sentiment when asked for thoughts on why New Orleans has continued to struggle on defense through multiple players, coordinators and systems.

And move to Los Angeles. Makes as much sense.

The Saints have started 55 different defensive players since the start of the 2014 season. And 23 different defensive backs have started at least two games in that 50-game span. Both are the highest totals in the NFL, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

By contrast, the Minnesota Vikings have used only 26 starters since the start of 2014. And the Denver Broncos have had only eight defensive backs start multiple games since then.

COMBINATION of poor drafting/FA signings and shite luck staying healthy.

There is no chance that the Saints ownership or front office can conduct a competent search for a new GM and a new head coach.

Here is the thing though. The drafts have sucked in the past few years, but Payton cant scout 1000 players. He relies on the scouting dept which he fired because they werent getting the job done. He relied on the medical staff which he fired because they misdiagnosed players. He has made the necessary changes that needed to be done. Too little too late? Maybe.

We need to draft better. Thats all it is. Keep the same guys on the team for years and we would be alot better. The roster turnover every year doesnt help anyone. Even the best DC probably doesnt do much here when you have to keep cutting players because they suck.I dont think Payton will be fired.

Its not like there is some top notch coach ready to take us to the promise land. This is a young team that will take some time to get better. If we could have another solid draft next year, and get a couple decent FA, we would be in better shape. This year we wont look like a Pro team until our 2 tackles come back, and we get Breaux and Lattimore on the field together. Snead will help the offense a little but we need the Tackles back.
