Dumb deal. Not sure what possesses these franchises to vastly overpay for middle of the road QBs. They had a decent run with Purdy while the roster was stacked, but I think they’re on the downswing now.

They probably just sealed their unfortunate fate by giving Purdy this deal. It’s almost as bad as the Saints hitching their wagon to Derek Carr and sealing their fate.

If anything, Purdy's deal shows me we didn't actually overpay for Carr. He's a middle of the road quarterback that we paid middle of the road money to.

According to PFT its really a $45 million a year deal, which is nowhere near top of the market for QBs.

The issue with Carr was never that we "overpaid" in absolute terms.

It was just idiotic considering our situation.

This market is going to make teams consider building a dominant defense with a cheap RB.
The few great QBs are pulling up the price for average one's, Purdy, Cousins Carr etc.

Six years $45 per year puts Purdy at 16th for QB pay. Seems about right.

This shite’s getting out of control like college NIL. I feel like NFL salaries are growing at a disproportionate pace compared to the price of everything else in society. The bubble eventually has to pop and everything will get reigned in a bit.

Maybe teams will do what about another poster suggested and focus on building a dominant defense with a strong running game and just get a cheap QB on offense.

What was Brees making his last contract? I know it wasn’t this much cheddar and that’s crazy.

Far too much, he was in decline and we had to eat far too much dead cap on his last extension.

I’ve said it a few times, Carr was being paid bottom tier money for a starting qb outside ones on rookie deals.

You know what…..

That man gave that team so so much and they paid him like a slave.
It was criminal what SF paid that man for years… they took total advantage of him.

About Fukkin time they step and pay him.

Purdy is 25, has won 64% of his 36 career starts, been to a conference championship and Super Bowl and yall can’t help but to bring shite arse Carr. Purdy is the antithesis of everything Carr

You're right, b/c they're increasing revenue faster than almost anything else in society outside of tech.

Salaries are directly based on revenue. Players get roughly 50% of revenue. If revenue explodes, salaries follow in direct proportion.
