Dude, hes only made 250 million in his career. Cut him some slack and let him make a living.

If he doesn't make a deal I will have no sympathy if he doesn't get a second SB.

he has made his mony

take a HUGE cut

we need to be absolutely loaded on offense, WR, TE, OL to where we can overpower anybody. whatever it takes. will need plenty draft picks to pan out and free agents and i am not sure what is available in the talent pool.

Saints, at this time, have really no draft picks except a #2. They need to rely heavily on the FA market for an OT, WR and a productive TE. Maybe Saints can get one of those mentioned with the #2 but those are positions that I'd like to see experienced players fill, not rookies IMO.

Saints need to get that A&M feller at TE Sternberger, he would be a baller immediately as a pass catching TE

Drew has two options the next 1-3 years (depending how much longer he wants to play) 1- make $25 million/year with little chance of getting another super bowl 2- take a pay cut to get some missing pieces in FA and perhaps win another super bowl.

If he wins another super bowl and retires #1 in passing yards and passing TD his name will be near the top of alltime great QB, IMHO

League should give us an extra 50m in salary cap since they stole from us.

I get that Brees never took a discount because he was so high up in the players association and saw his contract as the bar setter for his peers. Now, he is a 40 year old QB with a declining arm with a team of young studs that need to get paid. He needs to go the Tim Duncan route and start taking less for the good of the team.

Brees can't make a full 16 game season + playoffs without tiring. It was clear that he had nothing left in the tank.
Saints need to use Hill even more in 2019 to keep Brees fresh.

How many of you would gladly take a pay cut to help your company out? Be honest.

Dree has made $221,710,422 in salary during his career (according to sportrac). This is not counting endorsements. His "company" he works for is different from everyone's "company" on this website. He can afford to take a paycut if he so desires

if i was worth a quarter billion dollars or had made that? like drew?

and i want one last SB? id give up 10 mill easy. if not more to nab free agents. shite if he is making 25 mill this year? i'd give up 20 million. take a 5 mill salary. he has made his money.

you are not talking about a truck driver making 40k a year here struggling. you are talking about a rich rich man who plays a hobby for fun. use some perspective

meh. we need brees to take a huge cut and get more road graders at Ol so we can just run over mfers and make it easier on him. load up on WR, TE and OL. whatever it takes, treat next year like the last. even though we are realistically done.

This is a terrible analogy. Ask yourself, do you think Brees would rather $25mm or $5mm and another ring?

If Brees never made another dime in his life, he'd have enough money where his great grandchildren wouldn't ever have to work. But we all know once he retires from the NFL that cash register isn't stopping. He will almost certainly be a fixture on our TV's during NFL coverage. Is there a more liked/likeable player in history than Drew Brees?

At this point, money should not be the objective for his continued presence on the field. He should be in all out legacy mode. Get that second ring. Get that TD record. Avenge the last two years of playoff heartbreak.

Your average shlub (you and me) don't have such a luxury. No one will ever care about our professional legacy, but if I was in Brees' shoes I would 100% take as much of a pay cut as I possibly could to stack my team up and make a run for another ring.

Take a page out of the Warriors playbook, cut his salary, and pay him the difference in crypto.
