Yeah, I was being facetious. Chad's dick got hard because he thought he knew something that I didn't. There's no downside for Drew, really.

There's a thinking by a lot on here that is under the impression that a restructure is about drew taking less money. That is a fact, trying to corner a dufus in the moment, well that's an art form.

I don't know his salary off the top of my head, but he could convert a large portion of his salary into a signing bonus which would be broken down over the life of the contract. If we broke down $20 million over 4 years, we'd be paying $5/yr against the cap.

short term fixing causing more problems the remaining 2 years.

ETA: i'm not a cap expert, i definitely understand some basics but maybe a blues can enlighten us on possibilities of a restructure and what it does last 2 years of deal..

He had one of his best seasons.

5000+ yards
39 touchdowns
- not a really high amount of interceptions either.

The biggest reason people are going full retard mode is because of the road woes; which I think was mental more than anything, and I think they got over that in Philly.

The Saints offense and Brees struggled on the road, yes. But, two games I put on Payton more than anything @NE and @CAR.

Brees wasn't special in either of these games, but he gave the team the lead late in the 4th, in both games.

@NE: Clutch touchdown to Stills, and set up a field goal shortly after that.
@CAR: 97 yard drive late in the 4th ending in a touchdown to take the lead. I believe that had Vacarro not of suffered that injury the Saints pull this one off, and people are talking about the clutch drive to win it.

Nothing can be done about any of this now, but people need to calm the frick down. Payton getting uncharacterisically timid down the stretch cost us home field, and I think he and the team will learn a lot from it, especially getting the playoff road win off their back.

I am super optimistic about next season, likely far more than I've been in a long time. Outstanding young defense that will add a few more pieces, and an offense that I believe will be top tier again, especially if they can add another dynamic WR. Brees is still elite, and the Saints are a damn good team.

Because him restructuring to lower the cap hit makes the team better.

And bloats even more money on the back end of his contract.

Theres a difference between a restructure and a renegotiation.

I like Drew, but he hasn't shown the slightest inclination to help the Saints in that regard.

Doesn't mean it's not already in the process.

Brees said he's willing to do whatever it takes to help the #Saints win. Answer came to a question about restructuring contract.

Payton: It takes a while (for the pain to go away). During the regular season you have a tough loss and then get on to the next game.

I think restructuring his contract severely hurts is down the road. He would have to take a paycut to help the team and I don't think he will do that. At least not now.

his contract is becoming more of a bargain with every dufus qb getting 18 plus mill a year.

If his contract is lowered to improve the OL, then he will probably play longer, thus gaining all the money back in the long run...

Drew said that he would like to extend, not renegotiate. This would give him the same $$ but surround him with better players now. Good for him, terrible for the saints 3-4 years from now.

His road woes were only woes because he was so good at home. His road woes weren't even really woes if you compare his woes to other qb's in the league.

I can name on one hand the qb's that had better road numbers than drew. And only a few more had better home numbers than brees' road numbers.

Brees already has made most of his money in the first two years. He made 40 million in 2012 and 10 in 2013. That's 50 in two years. There has to be something that can be done that is friendly for both Brees and the Saints on the remainder of the contract. We need to get some good free agents to stay competitive.

I love Brees, but no.

He's leveled off at best, and on the road has become a completely different player, a shell of his former self if you will.

Very true coach.
Some level off at suck and some at average.
Drew has leveled off at "best".

And yet that shell is still better than almost every QB in the league on the road.

As long as Payton tweaks the offense (passing game in particular) for the road, no.

I saw way too many delay of game calls and unnecessary timouts to prevent more.

They have to get their playcalling/substituions worked out or slim the playsheet down on the road.

Something. We cant find a rhythm.
