I agree with this 100%. Which is why I stand for the anthem.

Exactly, but for the kneelers it is. They can paint it anyway they want but if it wasn't they wouldn't be kneeling.

I can’t believe a man who is thought of as one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game of football is such a gigantic pussy.

You can see in his eyes he meant what he initially said. He is being stripped if all self respect and respect of others.

So far in this thread, not a single person has explained to me how a black person today is "oppressed" by the economy. WTF does that mean? The economy is nothing more than 330 million Americans engaging in mutually beneficial transactions with each other. Nobody controls the economy. It is just free people doing free choices. How does it "oppress" anyone when nobody has the right to get you to engage with them economically?

Hey Earl! I finally agree with you. Ha! All it took was this madness and a complete melt by the crybabies on this board.

Drew Brees comment made me think of this Frederick Douglas excerpt

quote:

“Everybody has asked the question. . ."What shall we do with the Negro?" I have had but one answer from the beginning. Do nothing with us! Your doing with us has already played the mischief with us. Do nothing with us! If the apples will not remain on the tree of their own strength, if they are wormeaten at the core, if they are early ripe and disposed to fall, let them fall! I am not for tying or fastening them on the tree in any way, except by nature's plan, and if they will not stay there, let them fall. And if the Negro cannot stand on his own legs, let him fall also. All I ask is, give him a chance to stand on his own legs! Let him alone!”

It’s amazing how many people don’t understand this or maybe in some cases won’t admit this.

What's sad is that there are upper middle class blacks on this board who made something of themselves who buy into this bs when they know damn well what the true issues are.

Just proof how powerful indoctrination is when you start from a young age and are given zero access to any alternative view points.

Not gonna lie. The entire thing is kinda weird. The conspiracy side of me thinks trump told him to come at him a little bit after he tweeted this afternoon.

During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!

Everybody cannot change. Rocky had an easier time stopping the Cold War than it is to get racist white people to stop being racists.

Let’s recap what just happened. Black people called out Brees for the timing, tone, and insensitivity of what he said. Racist white people immediately wanted to start “punishing” those black people.

Then Brees, who has never changed his own personal stance on his standing for the anthem, which is his right, realized the tone deafness of what he said, is trying to do some good on racial injustice, and now has had racist white people turn on him.

So yeah, changing the mind of a racist apparently is harder than it is for a fictional movie character to end a decades long war.
