Those fricking guys were a disgrace. The lineman clearly rotated Drew around and drove him into the ground. You could see the rotation in real time.

6 weeks is best case scenario. It’s hard to give a concrete time line though. It really just comes down to pain management and recovery. Everyone is different, plus Drew is older so his recovery might be on the slow side.

He'll be back in time to engineer a crushing defeat in the first round of the playoffs. Not to worry. It is ordained.

Why do fracture ribs end his season? Seems like healing time for bruised or broken ribs is about same, 3 to 6 weeks? Wouldn’t that time frame put him back right before playoffs?

Yeah. I’d say the Christmas game. People who are saying done for the year have no idea.

It was a bogus roughing the passer call. Even after the injury I’ll agree it was bogus. Just bad luck getting hit at age 41 and already hurt.

Highly doubt that hit fractured his ribs. It likely happened last week against tampa. Check that td he scored in that game. He didnt get hit in the ribs this week. But he wore a jacket and was limited all week. Saints likely didnt report the injury

Payton said the only illegal hit he saw was the one that knocked Tre'Quan out of the game.

Whatever your opinion of Brees has been, he does not lack courage on the field of play.

Yeah he ain't playing the rest of the regular season. Maybe the playoffs if we even make it at this point. This shitty arse o-line took him out for good.

yeah... let's compare that to pre-2006 and the copious amounts of times we were playoffs/Super Bowl contenders then

I have to agree here. I hate Brees got hurt, but that is a chicken shite personal foul. That being said, I think they were giving us that one back from a chicken shite one they called on us earlier, I think it was Oneyemata.

41yr old QB recovery vs a 26yr old WR, that's the big question. How long will it take him? And the family side, he's older and was leaning towards retirement in offseason now he has a freaking collapsed lung from multiple hits, I wouldn't blame him for thinking about going to IR and calling it a career. As for the season, just like last year, this is still a silver lining with Brees missing at least some time so that Payton can get a good look at a QB on a cheap 1yr QB before deciding if we want to pay him a longer/larger contract.

Somebody posted "our last year for a SB and we have to ride with Jamies?" What makes it our last shot? Drew? By that logic we won't ever win one again. We have a good roster, with a defense that's getting better each week. I could argue this roster gives us our best chance to win with a backup QB as we've had in recent years.

Hope Drew's okay, especially from a human perspective. And let's hope Jamies can show why he was drafted #1 overall. Who date

The call still should have be made with the contact to above the QB's head. It was basically helmet to helmet

It was roughing the passer by rule. It’s a shite rule but this is the exact reason they have it
