“The New Orleans Saints renegotiated quarterback Drew Brees' contract to drop his base salary in 2021 to the NFL minimum, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

New Orleans will now carry roughly a $12-million cap charge for Brees until June rather than over $36 million, opening up nearly $24 million in cap space for next season, according to Pelissero.”

Doesn’t look like a sign that he is coming back to me if they are making these kind of moves. I don’t know though. Maybe I am misunderstanding.

If Brees retires this allows the Saints to create cap space now while waiting until June 2 to place him on the retired list. By waiting until June 2 is allows them to split his bonus prorations in 2021 and 2022 instead of carrying the $22 million hit all at once in 2021.

What about if he comes back? Trying to read the tea leaves as to whether this makes either outcome more likely.

One more run for hardly any money, allowing for one more year of “win now.”

Come on Drew they’ll make a movie about it.

He can’t throw the ball past 25 yards, I don’t understand why people can’t get that. He’s just a liability now

That’s an exaggeration. He can still throw go routes 40+ yards down the field; no he can’t put a 15-yard out from the opposite hash on a frozen rope anymore but he more than makes up for that with his processing ability.

Are you guys who want to see Ol Noodle Arm out there for another year really Saints fans, or do you just enjoy seeing them fail every year at the end?

I'm sure that his injuries, last year, affected his arm strength . I bet his arm strength was at about 70%.

That being said,he should hang it up,unless hes 100 percent sure that he would be back to 3 or 4 years ago drew with some rest and or surgery.

I just dont see how he can guarantee that
